Game of Thrones Writer George R.R. Martins Hints At A Possible Elden Ring Film
The writer has hinted at a film adaptation before, too.
George R.R. Martin played a role in Elden Ring’s development, helping shape the game’s worldbuilding
FromSoft’s work on Elden Ring will go down in history books for making soul-like genre titles mainstream. Elden Ring has been more than successful and the most recognized new IP in years.
While the franchise’s success led to a standalone co-op multiplayer game, the IP is set to expand even further from here. A new report suggests that a new Elden Ring film may be on the horizon.
Why it matters: For Elden Ring, a souls-like game translated into a live-action film would be exciting.
FromSoft Plans To Expand The Elden Ring Franchise In The Future
In an interview with IGN, George R.R. Martin was asked if he would return for an Elden Ring sequel, but he responded that they’re currently in talks for a movie.
Well, I can’t say too much about it, but there is some talk about making a movie out of Elden Ring
For those unfamiliar, George R.R. Martin is best known for writing Game of Thrones novels and for his work on a few TV shows. Surprisingly, the writer also played a role in Elden Ring’s development, working alongside Miyazaki to shape the game’s worldbuilding.
As such, Martin was featured heavily in the game’s promotional material. Moreover, this isn’t the first time talk of a possible Elden Ring film has been sparked. The same writer previously hinted at an Elden Ring live-action adaptation.
Even the game’s creator, Hidetaka Miyazaki, has been open about a potential film adaptation but under the condition that a strong player must be involved.
Elden Ring Nightreign Struggles To Hit 60FPS@4k On A PS5 Pro
The writer did say that Game of Thrones: Winds of Winter, a book he has been working on for 15 years, might play a potential hurdle in his involvement. Still, it doesn’t mean that his commitment to other projects will affect the movie in any way.

If Rockstar prices GTA VI at $100, it could set a precedent for higher game prices, making gaming less affordable.
Raising game prices won’t guarantee better quality; developers should focus on polished, complete games instead.
Digital-only purchases further complicate high prices, as players risk losing access to games they’ve paid for.
Over recent years, the gaming industry has undergone significant changes, with rising development costs driven by the pursuit of better graphics, evolving technologies, and shifting consumer expectations. As a result, developers have also increased the cost of their games for consumers.
No game justifies a higher price tag, even with these technological advancements. Yet, Rockstar has reportedly decided to sell its highly anticipated GTA VI for more than $70. If this happens, it could set a dangerous precedent for the entire industry, ultimately harming gamers more than benefiting developers.
The Risk Of Normalizing $100 Games
GTA VI: A Highly Anticipated 2025 Release
For decades, gaming prices have fluctuated. Some developers have set prices at $60–$70, due to inflation and rising development costs. However, even $70 isn’t ideal, and not justified for many players to play great games at that price.
Many rumors suggest that GTA VI will be priced at nearly $100, with the belief that Rockstar aims to cover development costs and “save” the gaming industry. If Rockstar starts charging more, it will likely become a trend. Other companies see Rockstar benefitting from higher prices, they will eventually do the same.
We’ve seen similar trends before. When in-game microtransactions became widely accepted, they quickly spread across the industry and became a business model for the developers. If Rockstar successfully introduces a $100 base price, it’s only a matter of time before others follow, pushing gaming costs to unsustainable levels.
However, not every game is as anticipated as GTA VI, nor does every game justify a high price. Additionally, many players won’t be able to afford multiple $100 games, or even GTA VI at that price, making gaming less accessible and potentially harming the industry.
When players stop buying games due to high costs, companies may be forced to cut budgets, cancel sequels, lay off employees, and scrap new projects to save money. Last year saw over 2,700 layoffs in the gaming industry. If this continues, it could push the industry back to square one, leaving studios in an even worse financial position.
Is Playtime A Justification For Price?
Game Value ≠ Playtime – Fair Pricing Matters!
Some argue that if a game offers hundreds of hours of entertainment, it’s worth the price. If a player spends 100+ hours in GTA VI, wouldn’t that justify a $100 cost?
This logic doesn’t hold up on a broader scale, as not everyone values playtime the same way. Some people may complete the game in 200 hours, while others finish it in 20. Pricing should be based on value, not on potential playtime, as it doesn’t account for individual gaming habits or financial situations.
Shorter games have also provided incredible experiences. For example, The Last of Us offers a 20-25-hour campaign yet is regarded as a masterpiece. If we start equating game prices to playtime, where does that leave these titles?
We are currently in a cost-of-living crisis, with prices rising on everything. Matthew Ball pointed out in his report that inflation affects gaming too, but there is a limit. If prices rise too much, players will simply stop buying games or wait for discounts.
Instead of increasing prices, companies should cut excessive CEO bonuses to support developers and should prioritize storytelling over ultra-realistic graphics, which often leads to overspending.
The Digital Ownership Dilemma
High Prices With No Ownership Isn’t Worth It
Another major concern is that modern games are increasingly shifting towards digital purchases, which undermine their value. Unlike physical copies, which retain long-term value, digital games are tied to online platforms, meaning players lose access if a company decides to remove a title from the store.
Ubisoft’s controversial decision to remove older games from digital libraries has already demonstrated the risks of digital-only ownership. This makes paying higher prices for digital games even less appealing.
Gaming is already an expensive hobby, consoles alone cost hundreds of dollars. Adding such a high price for games makes gaming even less inclusive. Why would players spend $100 on a digital game that might be removed from stores later?
Game prices shouldn’t go beyond $70 or it could cause serious problems for gamers everywhere. Instead of making gaming too expensive, studios should focus on making good, complete games, because without players, the industry can’t survive.

GTA VI will dominate the gaming industry in 2025, but some players will focus on other games, leaving room for them to shine.
The game’s success will attract new players, potentially benefiting smaller studios and other genres.
While GTA VI will be a major release, its high price opens opportunities for well-priced, story-driven games to thrive.
GTA VI, Rockstar’s next biggest title, is set to launch in late 2025 and is expected to be immensely popular. Fans have eagerly waited for any new updates about GTA VI. Since it is anticipated to be a massive success, there is no doubt that it will likely dominate sales and online discussions.
GTA VI: A Highly Anticipated 2025 Release
Many companies prefer not to release their games in the same month as GTA VI to avoid competition. They think that GTA VI will eventually receive all the attention it deserves, leaving their games overshadowed by the release of such a major title. But should this be a cause for fear?
No Game Can Please Everyone
The fear that companies have might be justified because whenever a major title releases, the gaming community rushes to buy it, often forgetting other good games. So, if you’re a small studio launching a new game, this fear might cross your mind, especially when comparing your game to Rockstar’s big titles.
But don’t worry, GTA VI isn’t necessarily your game competitor. However, if it’s an open-world, crime-based action game like Mafia, then GTA VI would be a direct rival.
Not Everyone Will Be Hooked On GTA VI
Another reason not to worry is that many players might ignore GTA VI. Gamers who prefer RPGs, platformers, horror games, or strategy games will still look for other options. Millions of players will prioritize different genres, even though GTA VI is highly anticipated.
For example, despite GTA V’s being dominant in headlines, other games like The Last of Us still managed to sell well. Plenty of other successful games are set to be released during the same time, and if those games could thrive, then yours can, too.
GTA VI Can Help The Gaming Industry Grow
GTA VI has the potential to help the gaming industry grow as a whole. Rockstar sets high standards in storytelling, world-building, and gameplay mechanics, pushing other developers to improve their games and ultimately benefiting players in the long run.
Now, let me tell you how your game can benefit from GTA VI. Many non-gamers might hear about GTA VI hype and buy a new console or upgrade their previous one just to play GTA VI. Once they’re done, they’ll likely explore other games, one of which could be yours.
GTA VI’s Impact: A Win For The Gaming Industry!
However, if your game is open-world, it still could benefit. After experiencing GTA VI, players might develop a deeper interest in open-world, action-based, story-driven games, leading to increased interest in titles like Red Dead Redemption 2, Cyberpunk 2077, and potentially your game as well.
Moreover, above $70, some will be unwilling to pay GTA VI, waiting for a sale or choosing other genres instead. So, publishers have a perfect opportunity to release their games and gain traction, especially among players uninterested in GTA VI or seeking something new.
A Win-Win Situation
There’s no doubt that GTA VI will have a huge impact on the gaming community with its highly interactive environment. However, it won’t necessarily hinder the success of other games. History has shown that even when one title dominates sales and discussions, other games can still thrive, especially if developers focus on unique storytelling.
GTA VI Hype Can Boost Other Games Too
I know that many gamers might turn to Rockstar games after playing GTA VI, but price is another major factor. While people no longer see video games as a waste of money, they still have concerns about microtransactions. Many parents worry that their children might spend excessive amounts of money on games.
So, if your game doesn’t demand too much in terms of cost but still delivers a great story-driven experience, it can shine among mid-tier audiences, too. Smart gaming companies also advertise their games at least a month before GTA VI’s release to capture players’ attention early.
Players who are eager to try something new will always be on the lookout for fresh gaming experiences. GTA VI is bringing new players into the gaming industry. But after all, once they eventually finish the game, they will move on to other titles; yours could be one of them.

Veteran BioWare developer Mark Darrah posted a YouTube calling out gamers’ toxicity.
He said that people disliking a game doesn’t justify hate towards developers’ personal life.
He calls people celebrating the layoffs cruel.
The fourth major entry in the Dragon Age series failed to live up to expectations and the series’ reputation. Following such an underwhelming launch, studio BioWare was hit with a massive layoff, with only less than 100 surviving members now.
One of the developers, Mark Darrah, has now posted a YouTube video calling out the toxicity from gamers. While Dragon Age: Veilguard wasn’t explicitly mentioned in the video, it’s quite obvious that the developer was calling out fans who were celebrating the studio’s layoffs.
Why It Matters: Dragon Age: Veilguard’s narrative themes caused huge controversy and partially led to the game’s failure. This also caused backfire from fans who weren’t afraid to voice their opinion on the game.
The YouTube video titled “Your $70 Doesn’t Buy You Cruelty” has been quite controversial. While Darrah didn’t specifically mention the game’s wrongs, it sounds like he was blaming the game’s management for the failure.
The developer said this about people celebrating layoffs just because they didn’t like the game.
you’re crossing a line into being cruel and fundamentally you should have more grace for other human beings
Moreover, he also said that none of this justifies people climbing onto the developer’s social media and attacking them.
When you decided to personally attack that one specific person on social media, how certain are you that it was their fault, that they are responsible for that thing that you don’t like?
BioWare also allegedly sent DMCA strikes to people criticizing the game. Whether it was poor writing, bland gameplay, or forced DEI elements, Dragon Age: Veilguard was the most disappointing release of 2024.
EA Planned To Make Dragon Age A Billion Dollar IP
Considering how much of a disaster Dragon Age: Veilguard was, another hiatus in the series is expected. All focus has now diverted towards Mass Effect, which isn’t expected before 2029. Still, Dragon Age isn’t completely dead as a franchise.

CES 2025 showcased major advancements in monitor technology, with OLED displays more affordable for professionals and creators.
Gaming monitors are pushing beyond 4K, with 5K and 6K resolutions offering sharper, more immersive experiences.
The introduction of 37-inch monitors provides a balanced size for multitasking and gaming, potentially setting a new standard.
CES 2025 was full of exciting new tech, with monitors taking the spotlight this year. If you’re looking to upgrade your monitor, products from brands like Dell, Acer, LG, Samsung, Asus, and Lenovo, showcased at CES 2025, could be some of the best in recent years.
As display technology changes quickly, we observed some of the most promising trends that surprised everyone at CES 2025. Here are the biggest trends that stood out and could take the overall user experience to the next level.
OLED Technology Moves Beyond Gaming
The OLED Series Boasts Ultra-Fast Response Times
OLED monitors are well-praised for their fast speed, bright colors, and sharp images, making them the top choice for gamers. Over the past years, however, they have been too expensive for customers, but CES 2025 showcased how they are becoming more affordable and available for creators and entertainment lovers.
The Dell 32 Plus QD-OLED monitor was one of the year’s most exciting announcements. Its amazing OLED image quality and special spatial audio feature are impressive. At just $800, it’s a great choice for creators and professionals who don’t want to overspend.
Furthermore, Samsung also introduced its Smart Monitor M9. This monitor, with built-in apps and a sleek, thin design, is useful for work and entertainment. Because these monitors have smart features, the price may be higher, but it has not been announced yet.
Asus introduces the Neo Proximity Sensor in the upcoming ROG Swift OLED PG27UCDM and ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDMG, priced around $899, which has been well-received by the community. This sensor prevents burn-in by displaying a black screen when you’re away, providing protection and removing the need to turn off the monitor manually.
As we discuss recent OLED monitors, it’s worth noting that ASRock announced three new Phantom Gaming OLED monitors in December 2024, showcasing exceptional visual quality. These monitors show that companies produce more professional-quality monitors accessible to a larger market.
When we talk about high-resolution gaming, 4K resolution comes to mind. But at CES 2025, the industry went beyond 4K resolution, starting with 5K resolution. With the new generation of graphics, like NVIDIA’s RTX 50 series, companies are also pushing gaming displays to new levels.
LG took the lead with its 45-inch OLED 5K2K monitors in flexible, curved models. They have the world’s highest resolution of 5120 x 2160 pixels and are cool features. One feature is their Dual Mode, which lets users switch to lower resolutions for higher frame rates, perfect for gamers prioritising speed over pixel density.
Moreover, the Acer Predator XB323QX stole the show in this category. This 32-inch monitor, with a traditional panel, offers amazing sharpness with 5K resolution on a smaller screen. It’s the perfect choice for budget-conscious buyers, as it doesn’t use OLED, which makes it more affordable.
Next, Asus introduced the ProArt 6K PA32QCV with its 6K resolution at the start of December 2024. This monitor is ideal for professionals, as resolution is the key focus. Its high resolution of 6016 x 3384 pixels and pixel density of 218 pixels per inch make it perfect for detailed editing work.
The Emergence Of 37-Inch Monitors

Another promising trend this year was the arrival of 37-inch monitors. These new 16:9 displays fill an interesting gap, offering more screen space than traditional 27- or 32-inch monitors. They still fit better on most desks, as they don’t require as much width or desk space as larger ultrawide monitors like 40-inch or bigger ones.
This year, Samsung showcased its 37-inch Odyssey 3D gaming monitor, captivating audiences with its glasses-free 3D technology and appealing to gaming enthusiasts. This innovation makes gaming more convenient and accessible while delivering a high-quality visual experience.
Odyssey 3D 37-inch gaming monitors offer a balance between being bigger than traditional monitors and keeping the standard aspect ratio. This monitor is worth trying for gamers who find ultrawide monitors too much.
These advancements are making cutting-edge displays more accessible. With diverse sizes and resolutions, there’s something for everyone, from gamers to professionals. As these trends evolve, 2025 promises to be a transformative year for monitor technology, offering sharper and more immersive experiences.

Xbox’s generative AI model Muse is being poorly received by the public.
Developers have spoken against the AI model, saying that it aims to cut development cost
Another anonymous developer says Xbox doesn’t care if nobody wants this but still wants to proceed.
The whole concept of AI integration has been highly controversial when discussing integration with any art form. Video Games are just the most recent industry in which AI push is being normalized.
Just recently, Xbox announced its generative AI model called ‘Muse,’ which will help with game preservation and can generate gameplay. The model was based on Ninja Theory and Xbox’s collaboration with Bleeding Edge’s 7-years worth of gameplay.
Video game developers have also spoken in this regard and have some harsh words to say about Muse.
Why it matters: The public verdict on Muse has been quite harsh, with people saying that they want machines to disrupt video games’ artistic aspects.
Veteran Industry Developer Responding To Xbox’s Muse Generative AI || Source: X
David Goldfarb, a veteran developer who worked on games like Battlefield 3, Payday 2, and more, replied with this.
Continuing this conversation with The Wired, David said that executives believe that AI is good for gaming because it helps reduce the development cost.
The primary issue is that we are losing craft, — When we rely on this stuff we are implicitly empowering a class of people who own these tools and don’t give a f**k about how they reshape our lives
AAA video game development is costing way too much for a subpar result. On the other hand, smaller studios perfectly utilize their smaller budget, delivering AA titles outshining bigger releases.
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Sales Are Impressive For A Game That Cost $40 Million To Develop
There are numerous other ways to reduce the cost of game development, and AI coding isn’t the answer. The last thing we need is another wave of layoffs in the gaming industry, which is already a worrying problem.
internal discussions about these sorts of things are quiet because EVERYONE fears being against this and losing their jobs due to the tumultuous time in our industry
In the same interview, a AAA developer who chooses to stay anonymous shared their thoughts on Muse, as they are not allowed to speak about it publicly.

Reports show certain models of the Zotac RTX 5090 Solid ship with 8 fewer ROPs.
This can lead to worse performance than other models of Nvidia’s flagship GPU.
Zotac has yet to comment on the matter or share an update.
The GeForce RTX 5090, despite its impressive performance, has proven to be a troublesome graphics card for Nvidia. Following controversial connector problems, stock shortages, and absurd pricing, the GPU seems to have run into another problem.
New reports highlight that Zotac-based RTX 5090s can perform worse than Nvidia intended, leaving owners disappointed yet again.
Why it matters: The RTX 5090 already costs significantly more than its predecessor, so buyers will be less than pleased to see such problems showing up in the already-limited stock on the market.
The Reference Model Performs Better Than Zotac’s Problematic Variant
The problem was initially reported via TechPowerUp, which noted that the AIB graphics card shipped with 168 ROPs. For context, the RTX 5090 boasts 176 ROPs, making Zotac’s variant perform slightly worse.
Similar reports came from members of the TechPowerUp forum, highlighting that Zotac’s RTX 5090 Solid variant is suffering from this issue across multiple units. Fortunately, other variants seem unimpacted.
Further testing highlighted a small 5% performance gap between this Zotac variant and Nvidia’s reference model. In practice, this should lead to Zotac Solid users seeing around 5-10 fewer frames per second, depending on the scenario.
Although some may be unbothered by this difference, Zotac will likely look into the matter to ensure all its cards meet Nvidia’s advertised specifications.
Zotac GeForce RTX 5090 Solid Missing ROPs via TechPowerUp
Interestingly, Computer Base has stated that its Zotac Solid GPU does not exhibit this problem. This may be indicative of faulty units as opposed to a general problem with all the models, but more information is needed before drawing a conclusion.
Since RTX 5090 supply is expected to increase over the coming months, it would be best for Zotac and other board partners to iron out such issues before more consumer spick up Nvidia’s latest flagship offering.
The RTX 5090 already costs a hefty $2000, so these issues are unacceptable, even if they don’t prove to be too big of a problem for most people.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 sets a high bar for RPG PC ports.
It offers smooth gameplay and solid visuals without being too demanding on the hardware.
The game also incorporates software-based ray tracing, showing other studios how a proper PC translation can be achieved.
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 has been showered with praise as it continues to see success. Following its latest milestone of reaching 2 million sales, the game’s PC port has been tested by experts and dubbed a major success.
Analysts highlight how the game is a cut above other AAA releases on the platform, showing a rare moment of victory for PC gaming.
Why it matters: PC gaming has seen too many poor ports in recent years, making it challenging for users to fully enjoy the latest titles. Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is a huge departure from this trend.
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 has been tested by Digital Foundry, and from the beginning, the analysts have nothing but good things to say about the PC port.
For starters, the title breaks free from the trend of the infamous stutter struggle, typically seen in Unreal Engine 5 releases, showing practically flawless frame-time graphs on hardware as old as the Ryzen 5 3600. General performance is also solid, leaving recently released titles like Avowed in the dust.
In fact, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 shows smoother CPU performance than its predecessor despite being a more ambitious title. This alone makes the PC version incredible, but the good news does not end here.
As per the testing, the visuals are consistently impressive, with elements like software-based ray tracing adding an extra flair to the environments. All in all, Digital Foundry dubs this PC release a major win for everyone.
Warhorse Studios’ Latest Release Has Turned A Profit Already
Warhorse Studios previously explained why it chose to skip Unreal Engine 5 in favor of CryEngine for its latest AAA title. Based on this analysis, the studio made the right choice and did not sacrifice much in terms of visuals either.

Delta Force: Black Hawk Down campaign launched to ‘mixed’ reviews on Steam despite players’ anticipation.
The campaign has been disliked for its poor performance and optimization, buggy gameplay, and excessive cheating.
The reviews could see improvement after a massive day-one patch and subsequent updates address these concerns.
Delta Force’s release last year was met with scrutiny from fans because it’s a highly regarded series that recently saw its first game after a decade. While the free-to-play multiplayer part is enjoyable despite mixed reviews, fans were hoping for much more with its new campaign.
Unfortunately, the Delta Force: Black Hawk Down campaign has also launched to mixed reviews on Steam, with hundreds of players voicing concerns about a motley of issues.
Why it matters: The campaign was touted as one of the best upcoming shooter experiences this year, but so far, it has failed to satisfy players’ love for the franchise.
1 of 4
There are a lot of crashes and connection issues in the campaign.
The game is badly optimized and does not run well even on good rigs.
Some players have dubbed it a waste of 28 GB.
The campaign features bad and sluggish enemy AI.
The game’s sloppy AI, bad performance, and lousy gameplay choices have turned the highly anticipated campaign into a disappointment for many.
Despite promises of minimal cutscenes and maximum gameplay, Black Hawk Down is full of unsatisfied players who can’t play the first-person shooter for long. There’s a lot of lag involved, and players have gone as far as to tell others to save their 30 GB space instead of getting it.
For those not in the know, the campaign features co-op elements. As such, the experience is also riddled with cheaters if you can get beyond the performance and optimization concerns.
Elsewhere, the off-putting animations of NPCs and stale dialogue interactions have caused players to review the free-to-play campaign negatively. So far, the developers have not addressed these pointers.
The Delta Force: Black Hawk Down campaign came out on February 21, 2025, for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC. Unfortunately, it does not appear to be the follow-up fans had hoped for.

EA’s Take On Nemesis System Will Enhance The Storytelling For Its Future Releases
It seems that EA is doing its best to adhere to the game’s lore and respect the culture associated with the superhero. This is also, by far, the most fleshed-out superhero game we’ve seen thus far.
It was also reported that EA is set to debut its own take on the Nemesis system with the game. Another game featuring the same superhero, Marvel 1943: Rise Of Hydra, is set to release later this year.
