Why Wow Retail Is Clearly Better Than Wow Classic

Story Highlight
  • Both WoW Retail and Classic have something for fans of the franchise.
  • Wow Retail has a slight edge due to its fresh content, accessibility, and more.
  • The former also adds various quality-of-life features that make everything a lot better.

World of Warcraft turns twenty soon, and the series is only growing. With a potential console release, fans should look forward to an endless stream of new content related to the IP.

However, many fans remain split on one key point. The comparisons between WoW Retail and Classic typically leave fans divided, but the tables are now turning in WoW Retail’s favor since it offers more fun and freedom.

Why it matters: The franchise sees many new players jumping in every year, leading to debates about the best version.

The War Within Keeps Retail Exciting

WoW Retail is best known for its fresh content. As an example, The War Within added new zones, story arcs, and mini‑dungeons tuned for one to five players.

Fans also enjoyed Delves, dubbing it a big win for breaking up the fatigue of typical WoW raids. While WoW Classic still offers a distinct charm, it feels reminiscent of an older era.

After clearing Blackwing Descent or defeating Ragnaros a second time, nothing truly new appears until the next Season of Discovery phase. The complete opposite is the case for WoW Retail.

Quality of Life Features

WoW Retail is typically much better than Classic at respecting the player’s time. Warbands allow every character on an account to share reputation, flight paths, and most currencies.

This means that players can level alts without repeating chores. Elsewhere, WoW Classic requires manual re-grinds, which makes unlocking mounts, recipes, or reputation repetitive and boring.

World of Warcraft Retail also imposes fewer limitations on its factions. Players can easily raid with their friends regardless of race or server, something that is not nearly as easy in WoW Classic.

The latter’s segregation is something the fanbase still does not appreciate much due to the Horde-versus-Alliance rules.

End-Game Content And Economy

Gold in World of Warcraft
Players Are Likely To Find WoW Retail’s Economy More Forgiving

In terms of end-game content, WoW Retail offers plenty of exciting variety. Between Raids, Mythic+ dungeons, Solo Shuffle, and Public Events, this variety completely outmatches the end-game activities of WoW Classic.

Additionally, the economy is better designed in World of Warcraft Retail. Following the Dragonflight expansion, this version offers greater agency to players while also offering clearer pricing.

In contrast, Classic economies have been bogged down by bots, limited supply, and static recipes. If the economic aspect of World of Warcraft appears overwhelming, services like WoW Boost can be incredibly handy.

Such services allow players to team up with veterans for a tailored experience through dungeons and Delves. Although The War Within’s Mythic+ can prove to be very punishing, the rewards make the hardships worth enduring.

This is also why WoW boosts are so sought after since they provide a roster already familiar with every shortcut, cooldown sync, and boss quirk. Instead of struggling with scheduling problems and challenging enemies, these services allow players to immediately enjoy the best rewards World of Warcraft has to offer.

Accessibility

To ease newcomers into the game, WoW Retail introduced Follower Dungeons based on AI companions. This, in addition to color-blind filters and other accessibility options, became an instant hit among newcomers.

WoW Classic sticks to an old-school experience, which can often come with a slew of bugs and slow updates.

Conclusion

All in all, the efficiency, social flexibility, and novelty of the Retail version make it better for most players.

Some fans point to level squishes and seasonal gear resets as weaknesses of WoW Retail. However, that reset keeps older raids relevant through Timewalking, while Classic power progression often dies once better gear appears.

It is also argued that the Retail version lacks social interaction because of random groups. Fortunately, in-game communities solve that problem entirely, making WoW Retail a treat for almost everyone to play.

How WoW Gold Mimics Real World Currencies And Economics

Story Highlight
  • Gold in World of Warcraft has many uses beyond its purpose as an in-game currency.
  • The currency is so important that players monitor its value and sell/buy it at the right time.
  • This system is not too different from real-world stock markets and trading methods.

Gold is an important asset in World of Warcraft, but it goes beyond the typical game currency. Following the release of new expansions like The War Within, gold has become even more important to every player, and it has grown to mimic an entirely new economic system.

Wow gold governs the end-user experience for all players, making it the most important part of the game.

Why it matters: These systems make World of Warcraft similar to games like CS2. Entire communities in these titles revolve around buying and selling in-game items for real-world money.

Digital Infrastructure Behind World of Warcraft Gold

World of Warcraft
WoW Has Been Going Strong For Nearly 2 Decades

World of Warcraft is unique in its use of currency because players make use of systems like Auction Houses, the Token exchange, crafting networks, and GDKP runs.

In a way, these systems emulate real-world economic activity, encouraging players to monitor supply, price volatility, and more. Elsewhere, the TradeSkillMaster, Auctioner, and Undermine Journal act as WoW’s stock exchange, offering past prices, item demand, and realms comparison.

The TradeSkillMaster(TSM) is primarily used for scanning, pricing, and flipping items of the Auction House. Meanwhile, Auction House APIs like Blizzard’s enable developers to build bots for market tracking and decision-making when it comes to checking WoW gold for sale.

Discord bots also come in handy here for WoW gold buying, as they alert users about price changes and flipping opportunities. Moreover, those who want to buy WoW gold cheap resort to reliable services with encrypted payment gateways, two-factor authorization, and transaction verification.

Buying WoW Gold Is More Accessible Than Ever

The WoW gold for sale market has grown significantly since the game’s inception. Gamers no longer need to resort to specific forums or small communities when looking to spice up their World of Warcraft experience since WoW TWW gold is available through various services that place customer satisfaction above all else.

These services offer proper dashboards, customer support, and more, further popularizing the concept of WoW gold buying.

Farming And Flipping

As part of the market, many players explore hardware macro-enabled multiboxing farms and profit simulations with a machine-readable API. Clearly, those who buy WoW gold to later sell it put a lot of thought into each transactions, so it makes sense that players don’t simply grind all day. Many seek to buy gold WoW as they see the bigger picture.

This is also a good idea since many platforms provide reliable services. They utilize VPN concealing, bank-level encryption, and delivery tracking. Although many platforms offer these services, it’s best to stick with ones that follow Blizzard’s terms of service.

Gold Farming Strategies

World of Warcraft Mythic Plus
World of Warcraft Players Are Always On The Hunt For More Gold

As mentioned earlier, there is no one strategy to collect gold. Veteran players can fall back on farming herbs, mining ores, and grinding mobs like the good old days, while others can study market trends to purchase gold at the best price possible. A mixture of the two approaches can also do wonders for those with a team of players.

The War Within Gold Is An Asset

Because this expansion has added new systems like Delves and Warbands to the World of Warcraft experience, The War Within gold has become a universal currency.

WoW TWW gold hoarding is also becoming increasingly popular, making it even more lucrative for players who are carefully monitoring the market conditions.

Because so much thought goes into this process, those looking for the best place to buy gold WoW must pick the best service providers. Ultimately, this resource is far too valuable to take any risks.

Battlefield 6 Won’t Have A Server Browser As The Game Uses AI Bots To Populate Empty Matches

Story Highlight
  • Battlefield 6 devs confirm the game will use AI bots to populate servers.
  • The main intent of using bots is to ensure maximum players at the same time.
  • Battlefield 6 won’t have a server browser either, making things harder for players.

EA plans to mark a solid return to the FPS genre with Battlefield 6, which is looking to be the series’ most ambitious release to date. Fans are generally pleased with the first look at the game; however, the lack of some features has left even veteran fans quite annoyed.

Unfortunately, Battlefield 6 won’t feature a server browser. Instead, EA plans to use AI bots to fill servers with not enough players

Why it matters: The general consensus against bots in multiplayer games has always been quite negative. They’re not challenging at all and take the competitive nature out of the multiplayer games.

UE5 Is Too Much Of A Generic Engine To Be Used For Games Like Battlefield

Talking with GNN, Battlefield 6 developers confirmed that the game will be utilizing AI bots. One developer specifically added that bots will help novice players hone their skills and abilities via Battlefield Portal.

However, the main intent of adding bots was to ensure a larger player count for the game, as per the development director.

The purpose of our game design is to allow as many players as possible to play the game at the same time.

Battlefield 6 will still try to prioritize human players over bots, with AI being kicked off as more players join. Still, bots will potentially ruin player experience since playing against AI has never been fun.

EA Wants Battlefield 6 To Reach 100 Million Players

AI bots were introduced in Battlefield 2042 and the lack of a server browser is also another thing being carried off from the last release. Had there have been a server browser, there would be no need to fill servers with bots since players would just join populated matches first.

Server browser is still available but retained for Battlefield Portal only, a platform where players can create custom game modes etc.

Run AI Locally: Nvidia GeForce RTX with 16GB VRAM Makes It Possible

Story Highlight
  • Nvidia and OpenAI have partnered to let powerful AI models run locally on personal computers.
  • If you have an Nvidia GeForce RTX or RTX Pro graphics card, you can use models like gpt-oss-20b and gpt-oss-120b without internet or a subscription.
  • For home use, the gpt-oss-20b model needs a GPU with at least 16GB of VRAM.

Yesterday, Nvidia announced a collaboration with OpenAI. This partnership with OpenAI enables powerful LLM models such as gpt-oss-20b and gpt-oss-120b to run locally. These models are perfect for advanced reasoning, assisted coding, intelligent search, and document analysis.

So, if you own a Nvidia GeForce RTX or RTX Pro graphics card, you should be aware that advanced AI models are now available without a subscription. Furthermore, no internet connection is required.

This collaboration between Nvidia and OpenAI allows developers and enthusiasts to operate generative AI locally for faster, more private, and cloud-free performance. This is terrific news if you work in offline contexts or want complete control over your models.

Frustrated Investors Demand Government Intervention in 11 bit Situation and Cancellation of Project 8

Story Highlight
  • 11 bit Studios was working on Project 8, which was canceled after 7 years.
  • The game cost nearly $12 million, and the studio was confident in its development, but the perception changed in just 4 months.
  • Following the cancellation, the investors are ready to escalate things and blame the studio for not being transparent about the development.

11 bit studios has released some of the great titles over the years, like Frostpunk and This War of Mine, but the studio has gotten itself into a huge drama in Poland.

The developers were working on a now-canceled game, named Project 8, which was in development for around 7 years. According to the studio, the game’s development started as early as 2018 and cost nearly $12 million.

While the studio was sure of the ongoing development of Project 8 until August 2024, the game was canceled in December, which has left investors frustrated about the transparency of 11 bit Studios and ready to take the matter to Poland’s financial regulatory authorities.

Why it matters: The studio had seen itself in trouble even during the release of The Alter, so the investors are ready to take legal action at this point.

11 bit Studios
Project 8 Was In Development For 7 Years Before Getting Canceled.

Recently, the studio has released a post directed at the investors, talking about the development of Project 8, blaming the market conditions for the cancellation of the project.

This has led to investors wanting clarity from the studio. In August 2024, the company’s president confirmed to stakeholders that the development of Project 8 was going smoothly. However, just four months later, 11 bit Studios blamed the market conditions.

Just a month after the cancellation, the Polish Association of Individual Investors blamed the studio for misleading stakeholders and failing to provide sufficient transparency.

Frostpunk
Frostpunk Won Several Awards At The GOTY.

Soon after that, the same association released an article stating that 11 bit Studios won’t be able to win the trust of the investors until they openly talk about the development of Project 8 and why it got canceled.

During the annual shareholders’ meeting in June 2025, the investors once again asked for transparency from the studio, but the leadership refused to respond. It has now been claimed that 11 bit Studios has yet to address investors’ concerns.

It remains to be seen how the studio will deal with this issue. Not too long ago, the studio was also caught using AI Generative in The Alters without disclosing it. Nonetheless, what do you think about this? Share your thoughts with us in the comments or join Tech4Gamers forums.

Xbox Skipping Out On Marketing Gears Of War: Reloaded As Pre-Load Becomes Available

Story Highlight
  • Xbox is skipping out on marketing Gears of War: Reloaded for no reason, leaving gamers worried about the upcoming remaster.
  • The game’s preload has already become available, requiring a staggering 70 GB of space.
  • Xbox having no noticeable marketing campaign despite a PS5 release suggests that it might not be confident in the remaster.

Xbox has pushed many of its awaited AAA titles to next year, so fans have been quite excited for the remaster of the original Gears of War 2006. However, a decision by Xbox has also started to shake this interest in the remaster, with gamers now concerned about its fate.

Xbox has gone radio silent on Gears of War: Reloaded instead of amping up its marketing campaigns ahead of the game’s approaching launch. Even the game’s 70 GB pre-load is now available, but there’s no sign of any marketing in sight.

Why it matters: Gears of War: Reloaded, getting the silent treatment so close to the launch window, might suggest that Xbox is not happy with how it turned out.

gears of war reloaded
Gears of War: Reloaded is aiming to be a faithful remaster of the original 2006 GoW.

Gears of War is one of the key franchises of the Xbox gaming brand, so a major release having no marketing is quite worrisome for the community. Some fans even believe that Xbox might not be entirely confident in the quality of the remaster.

On the flip side, Xbox might be saving the marketing budget and hype build-up for Gears of War: E-Day, which is a true current-gen entry. Since GoW: Reloaded is technically not a new game, some fans also believe it just doesn’t warrant a full marketing campaign.

However, since the remaster is also releasing on PS5 this time around, having no marketing to target that new audience makes no sense unless something has gone wrong behind the scenes.

Gears of War: Reloaded
The game is made using Unreal Engine and is reportedly well optimized for PC.

For those not in the know, Gears of War: Reloaded is launching on August 26, 2025, for Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PS5. Unsurprisingly, the PS5 launch has also upset many Xbox fans.

Do you think Xbox is confident in Gears of War: Reloaded despite having no marketing ahead of its awaited launch, or is this silence just a new strategy for the company? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers forum.

Devs Believe Exclusivity For Games Is No Longer A Viable Strategy, Survey Reveals

Story Highlight
  • Most developers understand that exclusivity is no longer a viable strategy.
  • Responding to a survey, over 90% of developers agreed that complete exclusivity would not be implemented in future titles.
  • Studios will likely resort to timed or limited exclusivity as they ease into a third-party approach moving forward.

The practice of exclusivity has persisted for a long time in the industry, with platforms like the PS4 and Nintendo Switch making a name for themselves through a solid library of exclusive first-party offerings.

However, games like Helldivers 2 and Gears of War moving to rival platforms have led to a debate. Many believe exclusivity is no longer as important, and a survey from Gamescom reveals that developers agree this is the case.

Why it matters: PlayStation’s latest job listing basically confirmed that the gaming giant would port more titles to other platforms. At the same time, Xbox has already shown its commitment to third-party releases over the last year.

Helldivers 2
Helldivers 2 Is Heading To Xbox Soon

Gamescom kicks off later this month, and developers from all over the industry are looking forward to the event. In addition to game announcements and reveals, developers are looking forward to Devcom, a part of Gamescom focusing on developers and their experiences.

Devcom surveys have also been shared recently, revealing interesting insight into the industry’s thoughts on various subjects, including exclusivity. According to the survey, 94% of the respondents no longer believe full exclusivity is a great strategy.

32% believe exclusivity will die out altogether, while 34% expect to see more timed exclusives moving forward. Only 6% of all respondents believe studios will continue to take exclusivity seriously, signalling a major decline in the trend.

PlayStation Remasters
Exclusivity Seems To Be On Its Way Out

Among the major competitors, Nintendo seems to be the only one still sticking with the tried-and-true approach of exclusivity. However, Nintendo has still ported smaller titles like The Wonderful 101 to PC in the past.

What do you think about the responses to this survey? Do you think the developers are right about the future? Let’s discuss in the comments and on the Tech4Gamers Forums.

Following The 15,000 Layoffs, Microsoft CEO Admits Feeling Guilt

Story Highlight
  • In the past few months, Microsoft laid off 15,000 employees.
  • The CEO of Microsoft said that the layoffs have been weighing on him as it was one of the tough decisions he had to make.
  • The company is still growing tremendously as it has crossed the $4 trillion valuation mark.

Microsoft has laid off a total of 15,000 employees this year. This action by the company has received a lot of criticism, with some fans even boycotting Xbox. Laying off thousands of employees in a few months is a sign of concern.

It was reported that the gaming giant did that mainly because it wanted to invest more in AI. However, even if that’s true, laying off such a massive number of employees isn’t easy, which is why Microsoft’s CEO has expressed guilt about doing so

Why it matters: Laying off people in the industry has become so easy now that thousands can lose their jobs instantly.

Microsoft CEO Feeling Guilt
The CEO of Microsoft Said He Has Been Feeling Guilt Over The Layoffs

Staya Nadella, the CEO of Microsoft, said in an official blog that the layoffs have been weighing heavily on him and such decisions are among the most difficult ones they have to make.

Before anything else, I want to speak to what’s been weighing heavily on me, and what I know many of you are thinking about: the recent job eliminations. These decisions are among the most difficult we have to make.

-Satya Nadella

He further said that they were our colleagues, teammates, friends, the people we have worked with and shared countless moments with. While he regrets doing that, Nadella expresses his gratitude toward them and wishes them the best.

Despite the layoffs, Nadella says that the overall headcount is unchanged, and some of the talent in the industry is being fairly rewarded.

Our overall headcount is relatively unchanged, and some of the talent and expertise in our industry and at Microsoft is being recognized and rewarded at levels never seen before.

It should be noted that days after the recent layoffs, it was revealed that the company was approaching the valuation of $4 trillion, which it already has. So, Microsoft is performing pretty well and is heavily invested in AI, which now seems to be the future.

Sony Should Keep Games Exclusive To PlayStation and Focus 90% on Single-Player Titles, Says Former Bend Studio Dev

Story Highlight
  • Sony’s recent job posting made everyone believe that the company is going multiplatform.
  • Many fans and popular figures are against this idea.
  • Among them is the former developer of Bend Studio, who said Sony needs to embrace exclusivity.

Recently, the gaming industry went into total chaos because of a job posting by Sony. The posting suggested that the company will follow the same multiplatform strategy as Xbox. Helldivers 2 is set to release on Xbox this month, which has made people more skeptical.

The majority of the fans were throwing tantrums at the thought of Sony releasing more games on Xbox. A former developer of Bend Studio is also against that idea, as he said PlayStation games should remain on the dedicated console, and the gaming giant should focus 90% on single-player titles

Why it matters: Console wars are already over, so worrying over whether Sony wants to release its games on Xbox or Nintendo seems a little out of hand.

Former Bent Studio Dev on Twitter
The Former Bent Studio Developer Is Against The Idea of Sony Adopting a Multiplatform Strategy

Robert Morrison, the former developer at Bend Studio, recently shared his thoughts about what PlayStations need to do on X, formerly known as Twitter. He thinks the company shouldn’t opt for the multiplatform strategy and focus mainly on the single-player titles.

PlayStation needs to: + Keep PlayStation games on PlayStation + Focus 90% on single-player games

Sony has not confirmed that it aims to release more games on Xbox or Nintendo, but fans were quick to connect the dots. The company may announce the inevitable soon, but the fandom and many popular figures will likely be unhappy with this decision.

Concord
Sony Has Been Focusing A Lot on Live-Service Titles, Instead of What It Excels At, Single-Player Games

The Bend Studio’s former developer also doesn’t seem to be a fan of this strategy. He has made some other good suggestions on what PlayStation needs to do. Morrison thinks the gaming giant should focus on a four-year development cycle, shorten the scope of major titles, feature fewer contractors, give more staff positions, and much more.

Furthermore, in the thread, he explains no one has to agree with him, and that is totally his opinion, and everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Blackbird: First Look At Zenimax’s Cancelled MMO RPG Revealed Via In-Game Creature And Animations

Story Highlight
  • In-game assets uploaded by a ZeniMax employee have surfaced, offering a first look at the canceled MMORPG, Blackbird.
  • The in-game assets showcase different characters, weapons, and animations.
  • An insider revealed that Microsoft shelved the project to focus on developing Fallout 5.

A massive restructuring at Microsoft happened recently that resulted in quite a few changes at its gaming division. Microsoft shut down many of its ambitious studios and axed a few projects, notably Project Blackbird under Zenimax Online.

The MMORPG was shaping up to be such a decent project, almost nearing completion since it was in a playable state. Still, we never received an official reveal for the game.

Thankfully, a Zenimax employee has uploaded animations, species, and other assets from the game to his portfolio, giving us a first look at the game.

Why it matters: It doesn’t make sense for Microsoft to cancel a project after putting 7 years and millions of dollars of investment. Blackbird could’ve been a great final product if Microsoft had fully followed through with it.

Most of the development assets focused on facial animations, weapon animations, and an exploration of five different species within the game (via MP1st). These species were W’Hurra, Wretzel, Skreev, Coyo, and Krona.

W’Hurra was a tall, furry species; Wretzel, an agile creature; Skreev, insect-like with wings; Coyo, a four-legged beast; and Krona, a bulkier centaur-like being.

There was also a wide range of weapons, ranging from pistols, SMGs, ARs, and even machine guns. Players would also have been able to customize their characters, with the latter part of the footage focusing on different built models.

Blackbird was set to be a futuristic entry with an alien-noir theme setting. TrueAchievements has also offered a glimpse at the game’s story, which took place on the distant planet Soteria. The same report also revealed the gameplay to be a blend of Destiny, Blade Runner, and Horizon Zero Dawn.

Recently, an insider shared his two cents on the project’s cancellation, stating it was shelved to divert resources towards Fallout 5, which has now been greenlit.
