AMD’s $9.2B Q3 Revenue Soars 36% YoY, Driven by RDNA 4 GPUs and Ryzen CPUs

Story Highlight
  • AMD delivers a record revenue of $9.3 billion in Q3 2025, representing a 36% year-over-year increase.
  • RDNA 4 GPUs and Ryzen CPUs helped deliver these results.
  • AI chips weren’t the standout here, but the OpenAI deal alone is set to bring in $100 billion of revenue.

AMD has had a great past few years, and it seems that the chipmaker is finally catching up to the competition thanks to a great lineup of releases across both CPU and GPU spaces.

The Q3 results for AMD are in, and it seems that Team Red has once again reached new heights with record-breaking revenue of $9.2 billion. Despite lagging behind in the AI race against Nvidia, AMD’s consumer products have performed exceptionally well.

Why it matters: Nvidia has now reached a $5 trillion market cap due to the AI GPUs that have been selling like hot cakes. AMD is still enjoying tremendous success, but largely by depending on consumer chips.

At The Current Pace, AMD Will Overtake Intel CPU Sales By 2030

The overall revenue of $9.2 billion represents a whopping 36% year-over-year increase with a 52% gross margin. $4 billion was generated in client and gaming revenue, which is a 73% year-over-year increase.

RDNA 4 GPUs, specifically the Radeon 9070 XT, have been performing exceptionally well, outperforming previous generations by 10 times.

On the CPU side, where AMD is even stronger, it has even seen greater results. AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, regarded as the best PC gaming processor, helped drive much of this revenue, and all Ryzen CPUs combined, Team Red is now slowly rising its desktop CPU share.

Moving on to the AI chips, while they weren’t the biggest revenue drivers, the case will soon change. AMD has partnered with OpenAI, which could bring a whopping $100 billion in revenue, significantly accelerating the company’s AI data center business.

Dark Souls Series Hits a Huge Milestone As The Franchise Reaches 40 Million Sales

Story Highlight
  • Bandai Namco’s new financial report reveals Dark Souls has hit 40 million sales.
  • It is now the second-highest-selling franchise, next to Tekken’s overall 60 million.
  • The series was the one to open the Soulsborne genre to a huge mass of players.

Demon’s Souls kicked off the popular Soulsborne genre in 2009. Its spiritual successor, Dark Souls, was the one that opened the genre to the masses and made it such a phenomenon, and that shows from the sales figures.

According to Bandai Namco’s new report, the Dark Souls series has now reached around 40 million sales. This is a massive milestone considering the last game was years ago, but the franchise remains as famous as ever.

Why it matters: Souls games somewhat fell off after the last Dark Souls; however, Elden Ring revived the genre and even helped the former reach even better sales numbers.

Dark Souls Sales
Dark Souls series reaches a major milestone, reaching around 40 million sales.

In its latest financial report, Bandai Namco revealed the sales figures for its major console franchises. Tekken leads the way with over 60 million sales, while Dark Souls comes in second with 39.71 million copies sold.

The report covers sales from September 2011 to March 2025, so it might’ve already topped 40 million sales by now. Nonetheless, the last mainline Dark Souls game was released in 2016, so it’s been a long time since the previous title.

Dark Souls 3 Remastered
There might not be any future Dark Souls games, as the series concluded with the third game.

Fans were delighted by FromSoftware’s Elden Ring, but they still hold a spot for Dark Souls and have been requesting a new game for years, as it was what made the genre popular. It doesn’t seem the studio will return as it concluded with the third game

What are your thoughts on Dark Souls reaching 40 million copies sold? What is your favorite game in the series? Let us know your opinions in the comments or join the discussion at the official Tech4Gamers Forum.

PlayStation’s New “Stream Your Own Game” Already Supports More Games Than Xbox Cloud Gaming

Story Highlight
  • PlayStation has launched a new streaming service for Portal and PS5 aimed at gamers with a PS Plus Premium subscription.
  • It already boasts a roster of 2845 games, which is much bigger compared to Xbox Cloud Gaming offerings.
  • This has made fans believe that PlayStation will soon become a stronger force in the streaming space than Xbox.

The console market has changed drastically, and every major platform owner is adapting in their own way. While Xbox has gone multiplatform, PlayStation is aiming for a more hybrid approach. However, it’s become clear that Sony wants to dominate Xbox wholly.

The publisher has launched a new streaming service that supports PS5 and Portal for gamers with a PlayStation Plus Premium membership. This appears to be a direct response to the popular Xbox Cloud Gaming service.

Why it matters: Sony’s new streaming service suggests that it wants to dominate Microsoft’s position in the cloud market after gaining Xbox exclusives for its PlayStation ecosystem.

PlayStation Streaming Service
The new PlayStation Streaming service features 2845 games from the get-go.

The official Sony blog reveals that the “Find games to stream” service already boasts a staggering 2845 supported titles. Despite the platform limits, this service already offers far more than Xbox Cloud Gaming’s 2107 offerings, despite its long head start.

These titles can be streamed directly on the PS Plus PC app, not requiring Portal in the process. Additionally, the new PlayStation cloud system makes the $200 handheld more justified, as gamers no longer need to rely on the PS5 for AAA gaming on the go.

A recent datamine also revealed that Sony is working on a cross-buy system, an alternative to Xbox’s popular Play Anywhere service. It is expected to let players with PS5-owned games enjoy them without additional purchases on PC and the rumored handheld.

Halo, Forza, And Gears on PlayStation
Many Xbox games are also now available on the PlayStation ecosystem.

These strategic moves have made users argue that Sony is trying to outshine Xbox in all its areas of strength to gain an undeniable leading position over time in the industry.

On a side note, Xbox says its biggest competition is social media and movies instead of another console.

Do you think the new PlayStation streaming service will continue to gain on Xbox Cloud Gaming? Will Sony also leave Microsoft behind in the streaming market? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers forum.

KCD2 Director Disappointed By The Outer Worlds 2 Despite Microsoft Backing And Funds

Story Highlight
  • The Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 director has given The Outerworlds 2 a score of 7/10.
  • He states that he was disappointed by how the game barely did anything new compared to Fallout New Vegas or Deus Ex.
  • The director says Obsidian should focus on dynamic and non-linear worlds, putting Microsoft’s funds to good use.

The last ten months have been quite a treat for RPG fans. Between releases like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, the genre has been firing on all cylinders.

Most recently, Obsidian also released The Outer Worlds 2. Coming from the creators behind Fallout New Vegas, many expected this release to be yet another hit, but player impressions were largely missed. The director behind Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 also appears to be disappointed, stating that the game should have done more.

Why it matters: Obsidian has always been held in high regard due to its work on Fallout New Vegas. Many believe the team’s recent releases have not lived up to the high bar set by this Fallout spin-off.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Dev on The Outer Worlds 2 From Obsidian
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Dev on The Outer Worlds 2 From Obsidian

Taking to Twitter, Daniel Vavra, the Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 director, recently discussed his thoughts on The Outer Worlds 2. He rated the game 7/10, less than most other reviewers, noting that it did not do anything remarkable.

Vavra explained that The Outer Worlds 2, despite being funded by Microsoft, does not do much that Fallout New Vegas didn’t achieve 15 years ago. He then drew comparisons between this RPG and the original Deus Ex, noting that the former falls short in most ways.

The company and the people who gave us Fallout New Vegas have been unable, even with Microsoft’s money and technology, to come up with a single mechanic that could take this formula somewhere new.

Daniel Vavra wants to see Obsidian focusing on true simulations moving forward. He also stated that non-linearity should be a huge focus for all RPGs, something that Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 excelled at.

Perhaps this approach to game design is exactly why many still hold Warhorse Studios’ latest release in high regard.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Sold Millions of Units Rather Quickly

Daniel Vavra’s criticism is also reflective of the larger state of gaming. Many new releases now aim for more refined experiences as opposed to breaking new ground.

Between the overall sustainability of gaming and questions regarding the future, risk-taking has become a lot less common in the industry. However, the Kingdom Come Deliverance director hopes that Obsidian will change things moving forward.

What do you think about this critique? Let’s discuss in the comments and on the Tech4Gamers Forums.

Battlefield 6 Becomes Second Worst-Rated Game In The Entire Franchise On Steam

Story Highlight
  • Battlefield 6 has become the second worst-reviewed title in the entire franchise on Steam.
  • It has gained a bunch of negative reviews over the last week because of the REDSEC battle royale controversy.
  • Players are also negatively reviewing the entry due to it having smaller maps and paid battle passes.

The Battlefield 6 beta and initial launch were indeed a staggering success, with gameplay continuing to impress the starved fans of the franchise. However, many controversies and bugs since then have continued to degrade the game’s overall review scores on Steam.

The hostile reception and criticism have grown significantly over the last week on Steam. It has downgraded Battlefield 6 all the way down to become the second worst-rated FPS in the entire franchise.

Why it matters: The overwhelming and growing wave of negative reviews suggests that BF6’s initial positive reception may not stick over time, unless developers turn the situation around soon.

Battlefield 6
Battlefield 6 reviews have declined to become the second worst-rated title in the franchise on Steam.

As seen on SteamDB, Battlefield 6 ratings have dropped to 65.64% at the time of writing, surpassed only by BF2042 with its 46.72%. This pushes the FPS even below Battlefield Hardline, which is renowned among the fanbase for straying too far from the series’ formula.

The increase in poor reviews mostly began after the studio launched the game’s free-to-play battle royale mode, REDSEC. The company has been criticized for launching the mode with BF6’s Season 1 and for pushing gamers to play it for weekly challenges.

After the honeymoon phase, the community also realized that Battlefield 6 indeed features some of the smallest maps in the series. Some argue the team intentionally made the maps smaller to promote its gigantic battle royale map.

Battlefield 6 Steam Negative Reviews
The game has been seeing an increase in negative reviews for various reasons.

The paid battle pass in a full-price experience has also worsened the situation. Lastly, many foreign gamers review-bombed the game for poor localization support.

The current negative rating trajectory suggests it’s only a matter of time before the game becomes the most negatively rated title in the series on Steam. That is, unless the developers finally turn things around for the FPS.

Do you think the Battlefield 6 reviews will decline for the foreseeable future? Will it become the worst-reviewed in the franchise over time? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers forum.

PlayStation Allegedly Getting New ‘Cross-Buy’ System Similar To Xbox Play Anywhere

Story Highlight
  • New datamined info reveals that PlayStation is allegedly working on a cross-buy system between PlayStation and PC.
  • The leaks include new ‘Cross-Buy’ and ‘PS5/PC’ symbols in the official Sony fonts.
  • Fans suspect it could let them play select PS5-owned games on other platforms like PC or the rumored handheld.

Xbox is often criticized for its controversial platform-agnostic strategy, but its Play Anywhere system has been praised a bunch by the industry. Right now, PlayStation gamers still need to buy first-party offerings separately on PS5 and PC, but that could be changing soon.

New findings reveal that Sony is possibly working on an alternative to Play Anywhere, a system that would let gamers play select PS5-owned games on PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store, or even an actual PlayStation launcher down the road.

Why it matters: By embracing a multiplatform approach over time, Sony might be aiming to follow in Xbox’s footsteps with its rumored cross-buy system. It could prove to be a great convenience for gamers in the PlayStation ecosystem.

New PlayStation Cross-Buy System
A new PlayStation system hints at cross-buy between PlayStation and PC.

Twitter user @yAmethxst has datamined new icons that are only present on PlayStation 5, including ‘Cross-Buy’ and ‘PS5/PC’ in the official Sony fonts. These symbols suggest that Sony is working on a cross-buy system for PlayStation and PC.

Additionally, a bunch of speculations suggest that this system could also be planned for Sony’s rumored handheld. It will not be the company’s first rodeo with cross-buy, as PlayStation Vita was well known and praised for a similar system.

The system will bridge the gap between PS5 and PC PlayStation players; it may even push the company to go for day-one first-party releases in the near future, something a notable industry journalist has already predicted.

PlayStation 5 Games
Multiple Sony first-party games could be included in this system.

This addition may also push Sony to launch its own PC launcher since it would be tricky to implement cross-buy across Steam and the Epic Games Store.

The dataminer provided video evidence that shows the findings are legit, but Sony has yet to confirm or deny them. So it’s best to be cautiously optimistic till then.

Do you think the new cross-buy system will be between PlayStation and PC, or will it be for the rumored upcoming handheld? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers forum.

Marvel Will Collaborate With Insomniac For Many Years To Come, Says Marvel Games GM

  • The GM stated that the developer was the perfect choice for Marvel’s Wolverine.
  • The studio is well-respected at Marvel because of its culture and values.

Despite crumbling at the box office in recent times, Marvel has produced one hit after another in the gaming industry. The biggest reason for the company’s dominance in the medium is developer Insomniac Games.

The studio’s Spider-Man games have sold over 50 million copies around the globe, with the first title generating over $3.8 billion in revenue. And, Marvel’s gaming division is aware of this success and wants to lock up the studio for many years to come.

Why it matters: Insomniac has consistently produced highly successful titles for the PS5, so the Marvel collaboration continuing is a big win for Sony.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was Insomniac’s latest success story.

While talking to GameInformer, the General Manager of Marvel Games stated that the company will be working with Insomniac for many years to come.

We’re so proud to continue collaborating for many years to come.

-Haluk Mentes

Haluk Mentes praised the developer’s culture, emphasizing that Insomniac was the perfect choice to bring Logan back to video games. The GM mentioned that Marvel’s Wolverine is the epitome of the company’s philosophy, as Insomniac understands the brand’s value.

Mentes also explained the ideology of Marvel Games, saying that the company allows studios like Insomniac to make their own creative choices while trying to stay faithful to the source material, making incarnations of characters that still feel familiar but have originality.

It’s no surprise Marvel Games wants to continue working with Insomniac as the studio’s recent project, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, broke all kinds of sales records, shipping 2.5 million units in just a day and over 10 million copies in 4 months.

Wolverine feat
Marvel’s Wolverine is Insomniac’s next project.

The hype around Marvel’s Wolverine is also no less, as the upcoming game has impressed playtesters and is expected to push the PS5 Pro to its limits with next-gen graphics and more mature themes compared to the Spider-Man games.

With Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 reportedly in the works too, it will be exciting to see what else Insomniac cooks up for Marvel.

72% of Devs Say Steam Has a Monopoly on Games, Forcing Them Onto Epic And Xbox Store

Story Highlight
  • 72% developers think that Steam has a monopoly over PC games, with concerns rising regarding market saturation, discoverability, and more.
  • As such, most are now distributing to other platforms like Epic Games and the Xbox PC Games Store.
  • Xbox is also expanding its ecosystem with emphasis on the PC market.

Steam represents PC gaming as a whole, and the store has long evolved to become a community and a hub for all gamers’ needs. With a hold on the desktop gaming market, this aspect is pretty worrying for the developers.

The same developers believe that Steam holds a monopoly in the PC games market, and rightfully so, since most gamers are acquainted with Valve’s store. The same monopoly is also forcing developers to start distributing on other platforms like Epic Games and the Xbox PC Games Store.

Why it matters: While a one-stop shop is a good thing for the consumers, indie developers and smaller video games get crushed by bigger releases on Steam.

40% of Games Haven’t Made Even $100 on Steam

Rokky, a digital games platform, recently published a paper delving into developers’ thoughts on PC games distribution for 2025. 306 managers participated in the said survey, sharing their concerns about Steam’s hold on the PC games market.

The biggest concern for them was the rise of F2P games, which in turn adversely affects paid games. Furthermore, the game market is also being saturated and, in turn, limiting discoverability.

While 88% developers say that 75% of their revenue is drawn from Steam, reliance on a single platform is no longer feasible for them, and 80% expect alternative channels to become revenue streams.

With a growing prominence of e-stores and marketplaces, PC game distribution is more varied, vast, and complex than it has ever been – Rokky CEO

With Xbox expanding its ecosystem and emphasizing heavily on the PC market, it’s also a huge risk to Steam. Since the gaming giant lies under Microsoft, makers of Windows, the Xbox ecosystem is widely spreading and already shows all your games under a single roof.

Microsoft Buying Steam Would Be A Death Spiral, Says Saints Row Designer

As such, the entire dynamics of the PC games market might change, and Epic Games Store and GOG may either stagnate or fall behind in the race.

Rockstar Co-Founder Says Red Dead Redemption 3 Is Inevitable, Regrets Not Being Involved

Story Highlight
  • Rockstar co-founder says there will undoubtedly be another Red Dead game.
  • He says that he’s upset he won’t be involved, as he loved the series more than anything.
  • However, originally, the series was supposed to just be a 2-game arc.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is a global phenomenon and to date a benchmark for story-driven open-world games. Fans argue that it is Rockstar Games’ best work ever, and they have been waiting patiently for a sequel for so many years.

Rockstar co-founder has somewhat teased the sequel, saying that he believes that the studio will undoubtedly develop Red Dead Redemption 3, but the upsetting part for him is that he won’t be involved

Why it matters: Red Dead Redemption 3 has been in demand for the longest time. Unfortunately, Rockstar hasn’t given any updates, but maybe we’ll hear something after the release of GTA 6.

Dan Houser, one of the founders of Rockstar Games, recently sat down with Lex Fridman and discussed his journey at the studio. Houser has some of the best titles under his credits, including RDR2, GTA 5, and all previous releases.

I think it probably would be, in some ways, sadder if someone continued on Red Dead, because it was a cohesive two-game arc. That might be more sad to hear someone working on that, but again, that probably will happen

– Dan Houser

Houser talked about his love for the Red Dead franchise and how it holds a special place for him. He said that Rockstar will make a sequel, but his not being a part of it would be quite upsetting, as he left the studio in 2020.

GTA 6 Red Dead Redemption 2
Red Dead Redemption 2 is considered amongst the best games of all time

Originally, the game was supposed to be a 2-game arc, as it concluded the journey of various in-game characters across both titles. So, most will be curious to see where the studio will go with the inevitable sequel.

Nonetheless, Houser’s impact on the studio will always be prominent. He was involved in some of the best projects and will remain an integral part of Rockstar’s history. As to what Red Dead 3 will be, that is all our guesses.

What are your thoughts on Dan Houser being upset, as he won’t be involved in Red Dead Redemption 3? Let us know your opinions in the comments or join the discussion at the official Tech4Gamers Forum.

Battlefield 6 Has Some Of The Smallest Maps In The Franchise, Reveals Comparison

Story Highlight
  • New scale comparisons with past BF games reveal that Battlefield 6 has some of the series’ smallest maps.
  • Not a single map in the game crosses over 0.5 square km of playable area, with the biggest one being Operation Firestorm.
  • Battlefield 3 features the largest map, Bandar Desert, with an almost 2.5 square kilometer playable area.

Battlefield 6 has been a staggering success after launch, despite a few issues still holding it back. Players were concerned when the BF6 beta only featured small maps, but the studio had promised that the release would have much bigger offerings.

Unfortunately, the final launch also left many players feeling unsatisfied with the size of the maps, and for good reason. New evidence reveals that Battlefield 6 indeed features some of the smallest maps in the series.

Why it matters: Even the Battlefield 6 maps being smaller than those in many past games has sparked a new wave of backlash in the community against the developers.

A Reddit user has created a detailed scale comparison of all titles in the franchise since Battlefield 3, and it shows that Battlefield 6 is at the lower end in terms of map sizes. The comparisons include graphs with both the playable area and the total area of maps in square km.

For example, the largest BF6 map, Operation Firestorm, ranks 32nd in terms of playable area in the chart, with a coverage of less than 0.5 square kilometers. Battlefield 3 boasts the largest map, Bantar Desert, with nearly 2.5 square km of playable area for context.

Mirak Valley, the largest original Battlefield 6 map, is in 35th place, while the rest are found throughout the lower rankings in the graph.

battlefield 6
Battlefield 6 has been well-received by the community for the most part.

Users have also criticized Battlefield 6 for not optimizing the maps for infantry gameplay, indicating that size is not the only issue at hand. The tunnel shape in most maps funnels gameplay to only certain areas, unlike past Battlefield games.

A concerning theory among players suggests that developers intentionally created smaller Battlefield 6 maps to promote its free-to-play REDSEC battle royale, which comes with a much bigger space to wage war.

The fans are now hoping that the new shooter will also get bigger and better maps via post-launch updates and DLCs down the road.

Do you think Battlefield 6 maps being this small takes away from the players’ immersion? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers forum.
