Despite crumbling at the box office in recent times, Marvel has produced one hit after another in the gaming industry. The biggest reason for the company’s dominance in the medium is developer Insomniac Games.
The studio’s Spider-Man games have sold over 50 million copies around the globe, with the first title generating over $3.8 billion in revenue. And, Marvel’s gaming division is aware of this success and wants to lock up the studio for many years to come.
Why it matters: Insomniac has consistently produced highly successful titles for the PS5, so the Marvel collaboration continuing is a big win for Sony.
While talking to GameInformer, the General Manager of Marvel Games stated that the company will be working with Insomniac for many years to come.

Haluk Mentes praised the developer’s culture, emphasizing that Insomniac was the perfect choice to bring Logan back to video games. The GM mentioned that Marvel’s Wolverine is the epitome of the company’s philosophy, as Insomniac understands the brand’s value.
Mentes also explained the ideology of Marvel Games, saying that the company allows studios like Insomniac to make their own creative choices while trying to stay faithful to the source material, making incarnations of characters that still feel familiar but have originality.
It’s no surprise Marvel Games wants to continue working with Insomniac as the studio’s recent project, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, broke all kinds of sales records, shipping 2.5 million units in just a day and over 10 million copies in 4 months.
The hype around Marvel’s Wolverine is also no less, as the upcoming game has impressed playtesters and is expected to push the PS5 Pro to its limits with next-gen graphics and more mature themes compared to the Spider-Man games.
With Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 reportedly in the works too, it will be exciting to see what else Insomniac cooks up for Marvel.
