Bethesda Says Elder Scrolls 6 Development Is Going Well With Most of The Studio Now Working on It

Story Highlight
  • Bethesda boss says that most of the studio is now working on The Elder Scrolls 6.
  • The development is going well, but it’s a process, and it does take time to get it right.
  • The studio usually takes a lot of time in pre-production to feel good about the title.

The Elder Scrolls 6 has been a long time coming, and still nowhere in sight. On the brighter side, Bethesda has been regularly updating about its development in the past few months, and has now given a bit more sneak peek into the process.

Bethesda’s boss has assured that the development of The Elder Scrolls 6 is indeed going well. Most of the team is now working on the RPG; however, they like to overlap development, so they’re working on other stuff too.

Why it matters: The Elder Scrolls is perhaps the most loved Bethesda franchise of all time. Also doesn’t help the cause that the last mainline entry was released in 2011, so fans have been waiting for a very long time.

The Elder Scrolls 6
TES 6’s development is going smooth but its still not expected anytime soon

Todd Howard, in a recent interview, told Game Informer that most of Bethesda’s team is now working on The Elder Scrolls 6. The game was announced 7 years ago, and we still haven’t had a proper look at it yet.

It’s progressing really well. The majority of the studio’s on VI. we have long pre-productions on things so that we feel good about them. And it’s a (time taking) process.

– Todd Howard

The Elder Scrolls 6
The sequel to Bethesda’s biggest franchise was officially announced 7 years ago

Howard says that they spend a lot of time on pre-production to make sure they feel good about the project, which in this case is quite essential. They wish it could’ve been faster, but it’s a process, and it does take time.

Anyhow, it’s good to at least find out that The Elder Scrolls 6 is progressing smoothly. It might not be out any time soon, but we hope we get to see a first proper look at it in 2026 or in anytime near future.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Breaks 20 Million Copies Sold Worldwide Two Years After Launch

Story Highlight
  • Baldur’s Gate 3 has officially sold over 20 million copies across all platforms.
  • It maintains a surprisingly high number of active players long after its initial release.
  • Expectations are high for Larian’s upcoming title, Divinity.

Baldur’s Gate 3, the GOTY-winning RPG from Larian Studios, has now sold more than 20 million copies worldwide, according to the studio’s CEO Swen Vincke. This is a huge achievement for the game, which launched in August 2023 and quickly became one of the most talked-about RPGs of the decade.

The sales figure was recently shared in an interview with Bloomberg, in which Vincke confirmed that Baldur’s Gate 3 has surpassed 20 million units across all platforms. This includes PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S sales.

Why it matters: That success also put new pressure on Larian’s upcoming Divinity. Baldur’s Gate 3 did more than sell well. It became one of the highest-rated games ever made.

Baldur’s Gate 3’s journey has been remarkable. It started with an early access phase in 2020 that helped build a loyal fan base. Even then, the game sold millions of copies before its full release. After the official launch in August 2023, it quickly rose to the Steam charts and remained near the top all year.

Industry analysts had hinted at these substantial sales numbers long before the official announcement. Various data sources reported that Baldur’s Gate 3 has sold millions of units across PC and consoles.

While Larian hadn’t shared exact totals for a long time, players and analysts knew the game was one of the most popular RPGs of the decade.

Baldur’s Gate 3 was not just a sales hit. It also held players’ attention long after launch. Even a year later, it was still near the top of Steam’s most-played and best-selling charts.

At the time of writing, Baldur’s Gate 3 has 60K concurrent players on Steam. That kind of staying power is uncommon for large RPGs and has helped keep the game in constant focus.

Not only that, the RPG won Game of the Year awards from a wide range of media outlets and critics. That level of success gives Larian more freedom and financial stability, but it also raises expectations for their next game, Divinity.

Reaching 20 million sales shows that story-driven RPGs still matter in gaming. Even as new games and trends appear, players continue to return to the Forgotten Realms for its choices, battles, and detailed lore.

Call of Duty’s Fresh Slate Begins in 2027 With a New Subfranchise Set in the 1990s–2000s

Story Highlight
  • 2027’s Call of Duty will introduce a new subfranchise.
  • The game is set in the 1990s to early 2000s, an era the series hasn’t taken place in yet.
  • Currently, Zombies isn’t planned, and movement is also being worked on.

The Call of Duty franchise hit rock bottom this year, following multiple flops, and Black Ops 6 was the final nail in the coffin. As the future of the once-hailed military FPS looks grim, a new report finally hints at something positive for Activision’s magnum opus.

2027 will mark new beginnings for the FPS series by finally introducing a new subfranchise. Sledgehammer Games is taking the lead on the project, which is said to take place during the 1990s and early 2000s, an era Call of Duty has yet to explore.

Why it matters: It’s been a while since a new subfranchise was introduced, and fans have had enough of Black Ops and Modern Warfare games. This news will make fans a bit optimistic about the series’ future after such a rough recent time.

Call of duty 2027 leaks
Details For 2027’s CoD Title

As per TheGhostOfHope on social media, who is a reliable leaker, 2027’s Call of Duty title will feature an all-new cast of characters. This is good news for those who’ve had enough of Mason, Woods, Reznov, Soap, and others who keep reappearing in new titles, game after game. Omnimovement will still be present, but with the removal of Tac Sprint to balance out things.

The report further reveals that Pick 10 is also in the discussions to return. For those not familiar, Pick 10 is a class creating feature that allows players to spend points to build a class, and it was present in notable titles like Black Ops 3, 4, and Infinite Warfare.

Other than that, Zombies is currently not planned, which is also a great thing since Black Ops 6’s Zombies mode was actually quite horrible. Get High mode is also starting to return, which features parkour, and players have to go through the map to earn rewards.

Previous Reports Also Hinted At Martial Arts For The Same 2027 Release

ARCTIC MX-7 Thermal Paste Launches With Improved Formula and Long-Term Stability

[Press Release] ARCTIC has launched MX-7, a new thermal paste designed to provide reliable cooling across a wide range of devices. It supports traditional desktop CPUs as well as demanding direct die applications found in GPUs, laptops, and console processors.

MX-7 uses a newly developed formula that lowers thermal resistance and delivers a clear performance improvement under sustained workloads. The compound is neither electrically conductive nor capacitive, which removes the risk of short circuits and makes it safe for sensitive hardware.

The paste has a thicker consistency and is not intended to be spread manually. An even layer forms through mounting pressure when the cooler is installed, helping ensure proper coverage in both standard and direct die setups.

Its improved cohesiveness also reduces the pump-out effect caused by repeated heat cycles, allowing performance to remain stable over time.

ARCTIC has also updated the syringe design to improve handling and application. Each unit includes an authenticity check, giving buyers a way to verify that the product is genuine.

MX-7 is available through the ARCTIC webshop, Amazon, eBay, and selected partners. It comes in multiple sizes with MX-Cleaner wipes, making it suitable for everything from single upgrades to long-term maintenance.

Larian’s Next Game, Divinity Will Be Turn-Based And Have A Shorter Development Cycle

Story Highlight
  • Larian Studios has confirmed that its next title, Divinity, will also be a turn-based RPG.
  • The game will launch in early access and will have a shorter development cycle.
  • The studio says that it’s confident the game will top Baldur’s Gate 3 as well.

Larian Studios finally revealed its next title, Divinity, at The Game Awards, after teasing it through the mysterious desert statue for days. Many were wondering when the title launches and what genre it’ll be, and the studio has clarified.

The Baldur’s Gate 3 developers have stated that Divinity will indeed be a turn-based title, similar to the previous games in the franchise. This will allow them to keep the development cycle shorter.

Why it matters: After Baldur’s Gate 3’s immense success, Larian is continuing the turn-based genre with Divinity, and claims that the next title will top even the Game of the Year 2023 winner.

Divinity
Divinity, Larian’s next game, will once again be a turn-based RPG

Speaking to Bloomberg, Larian CEO Swen Vincke went into detail about Divinity. He said that the team thought it would be really hard to make anything better than Baldur’s Gate 3, but they think they’ve managed that.

It’s a turn-based RPG featuring everything you’ve seen from us in the past, but it’s brought to the next level.

– Swen Vincke

Divinity will once again be a turn-based RPG, and development time will be much shorter. The studio is aiming to release the title in the next 3-4 years, unlike the 6 years they took with their last major project.

So, it means we could see a full launch around 2029-2030. However, the game could pop up earlier as well, considering it will launch in early access at first. Larian hasn’t commented on when we can expect that.

What are your thoughts on Divinity being another turn-based RPG? Do you think it’ll be completed within 3-4 years? Let us know your opinions in the comments or join the discussion at the official Tech4Gamers Forum.

Pragmata Has Reached 1 Million Wishlists Amid Positive Demo Reviews

Story Highlight
  • Capcom’s Pragmata is finally set to launch on April 24, 2026, after multiple delays.
  • It has hit 1 million wishlists already amid a very positive reception on its demo.
  • It will join Resident Evil Requiem as two of Capcom’s flagship titles for next year.

Capcom’s upcoming sci-fi action-adventure title was first revealed in 2020, after which came multiple delays and even rumors of cancellation. However, the title is now finally closing in on its release, and it’s shaping up to be a hit.

The studio has announced that Pragmata has now reached 1 million wishlists across the globe. Capcom recently revealed a demo for the title, and fans were largely impressed, leading to a mostly positive reception.

Why it matters: Pragmata seems to be really fun based on what we’ve seen so far. It has a futuristic setting, decent gameplay, and a story that seems to be going for the TLOU-like father and daughter dynamic.

Pragmata’s recent demo has helped push it past 1 million wishlists globally

Capcom took to X to announce the 1 million wishlist milestone. The game is also about to break into Steam’s top 10 most-wishlisted games, where it joins another much-anticipated Capcom game, Resident Evil Requiem

A demo was also launched recently to assess the game’s performance on PC. The studio said it’ll use the data to optimize it better on PC. A console demo will also be released with the same goal in mind.

The sci-fi title was delayed multiple times after being announced in 2020

It did receive a bit of backlash recently because of Denuvo implementation. Nonetheless, even its previews from earlier this year praised it, claiming that the delays were worth the wait, based on the quality.

Pragmata is not set to join a very star-studded 2026, with many other huge releases. It comes out on April 24, 2026, and will be available for all major platforms, including PS5, Xbox Series X, PS5 and even Switch 2.

Dead Island 3 In The Works With 2028 Release Target

Story Highlight
  • Dambuster Studios has confirmed that Dead Island 3 is in active development.
  • Nearly all of the studios’ 194 employees are working on this project.
  • The studio expects to release the game by Q2 2028.

Dead Island 2 came back from the dead not too long ago and became quite a success story for Dambuster Studios. Thanks to its brutal and gory executions, fun gameplay, and satirical tone, the experience was largely well-received.

It seems this has led to Dambuster Studios working on a sequel, with the team’s latest report confirming Dead Island 3.

Why it matters: The Dead Island franchise, despite its lengthy hiatus, remains among the best zombie IPs of the modern era. Moreover, the genre has significantly died down over the years, so new titles are more than welcome.

According to Dambuster Studios’ annual financial statement, the AAA developer is now focused on Dead Island 3.

The report also mentions that nearly all of the studio’s 194 employees are busy working on this project, with the few remaining employees expected to join the development of the upcoming title shortly.

As per the report, the production is currently in the early stages. It is said that elements like character and story design are moving forward at a steady pace. If all goes well, Dambuster Studios expects to release the game by Q1 or Q2 of 2028.

Still, fans will be glad to know that another Dead Island entry is around two years away.

American Devs Haven’t Won Game of the Year Since 2020

Story Highlight
  • US-based developers have not succeeded at The Game Awards since The Last of Us Part 2.
  • The last five Game of the Year wins have all come from Japan and Europe.
  • This trend could change if GTA 6 lives up to expectations next year.

The Game Awards 2025 ended with Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 being crowned Game of the Year. Elsewhere, the title swept up awards across various other categories, showing the dominance of French developer Sandfall Interactive.

On the subject of the French studio, the last few Game of the Year winners have all come from diverse global backgrounds. In fact, an American studio hasn’t had this award to its name since 2020.

Why it matters: Studios in America are among the biggest and most popular teams in the industry. They also show up frequently in game award shows, so this pattern for Game of the Year is certainly interesting.

The Last of Us Part 2 Region Locked PC
US-Based Devs Have Not Seen A GOTY Win Since 2020

In 2020, The Last of Us Part 2 took home this award, with Naughty Dog setting a new record at the event at the time. Since then, the following games have won the award:

Two of these games, namely Elden Ring and Astro Bot, come from teams in Japan. All the other three were made by European studios. It Takes Two’s Hazelight Studios is based in Sweden, while Larian Studios, the team behind Baldur’s Gate 3, is located in Belgium.

Therefore, Western studios in America seem to be going through a Game of the Year drought at the moment. In the past, the likes of God of War and Overwatch took home this award for American teams.

Between 2016 and 2020, three American developers, including Activision Blizzard, Santa Monica Studio, and Naughty Dog, claimed this award. Although it has now been five years since America’s last Game of the Year win, this drought could very well be over by next year.

GTA 6
GTA 6 Comes Out November 2026

If the game does not get delayed, GTA 6 should qualify for The Game Awards 2026, and if the trailers are anything to go by, it could win Game of the Year.

Rockstar Games is much bigger than many of these studios, but its biggest subset of developers is based in the US, so a victory for the studio should qualify as one for American developers.

What do you think about American games failing to win a GOTY title in recent years? Let’s discuss in the comments and on the Tech4Gamers Forums.

Hollow Knight: Silksong Crosses 7 Million Sales, Team Cherry Announces Free DLC

Story Highlight
  • Hollow Knight: Silksong’s first expansion has been announced by Team Cherry, and it’s free for everyone.
  • The game has crossed 7 million sales in addition to millions of users playing it on Xbox Game Pass.
  • Furthermore, the developer announced a refreshed version of Hollow Knight set to release on Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026.

Despite being snubbed at this year’s Game Awards, nobody has forgotten the splash Hollow Knight: Silksong made when it first came out in September. The indie title had so much hype around it that it crashed multiple online stores due to player traffic and reached 5 million players in just 3 days.

In addition, the platformer was so universally acclaimed that many thought its $20 price tag was a bit too low. Unsurprisingly, fans have wanted a Hollow Knight: Silksong expansion for a while now, and Team Cherry has finally shown us a glimpse of what’s coming in 2026.

Why It Matters: Team Cherry releasing DLCs, ports, and game-changing updates free of cost showcases how they are one of the only consumer-friendly studios in the industry.

In its end-of-the-year blog, Team Cherry has announced the first expansion for Hollow Knight: Silksong, titled Sea of Sorrow. The developer didn’t disclose much information but told us that this DLC will take players beneath the salt-stricken seas and is going to be free for all players when it launches in 2026.

In addition, Team Cherry thanked fans for helping Hollow Knight: Silksong cross a new milestone of 7 million copies sold. The developer stated that millions of users are also playing the game on Xbox Game Pass and that this level of success is only possible due to the dedication of players.

The surprises don’t end there, however, as the blog also reveals that a Nintendo Switch 2 version of Hollow Knight is in development and will launch in 2026. This edition of the game will have high frame-rate modes, higher resolution, and more graphical effects.

Hollow Knight Switch 2
Hollow Knight Will Be Available on Switch 2 in 2026.

Hollow Knight’s Nintendo Switch 2 version will be free for anyone who already owns the game on the original Switch. Moreover, while Switch 2 players have to wait a little bit for this refreshed edition, Team Cherry has already released some of these updates on PC, including bug fixes and new aspect ratios.

Expedition 33 Saw Sales Jump 6x After Dominating The Game Awards, Analysis Reveals

Story Highlight
  • Clair Obscur: Expedition 33’s clean sweep at the Game Awards boosted its sales by 6x.
  • The RPG hit its highest sales peak since May on the weekend after its GOTY win.
  • 76% of these sales were on Steam, while 21% on PS5, with Xbox Game Pass also seeing a player surge.

Many expected Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 to take home the ultimate prize at this year’s Game Awards. But the domination the gaming community witnessed last week was probably a surprise to all, as Sandfall Interactive’s RPG completely swept the show.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 became the most awarded game in TGA history, and unsurprisingly, this has given a new life to the RPG’s commercial performance.

Why it matters: Despite its flaws, the Game Awards are a good platform for the industry to introduce its best products to a new audience through spectacle and showmanship.

Expedition 33
Expedition 33 only averaged 12k copies sold daily before its Game Awards triumph.

According to Alinea Analytics, Expedition 33’s dominance at The Game Awards increased its daily sales by six times, helping it sell over 200K copies since the award show ended. Due to the resulting attention and hype, Sandfall’s RPG has now crossed 6 million copies sold

Post-Game of the Year win, Expedition 33 averages 69K copies sold every day with the RPG hitting its highest sales peak since May on Saturday, December 13th, with over 92K sales.

Furthermore, the analysis revealed that Game Pass engagement also saw an increase following the Game Awards. More than 52K users accessed Expedition 33 via the Game Pass for the first time after its GOTY win.

But this also led to a decrease in sales on the platform, as fewer than 10K Expedition 33 copies have been sold on Xbox since The Game Awards, accounting for only 3% of the sales. On the other hand, Steam accounts for 76% of the 200K units shipped, while PS5 players bought the remaining 21%.

Expedition 33 Game Pass
Expedition 33 also saw a massive increase in engagement on the Xbox Game Pass after TGA 2025.

Hence, one could make a case that Game Pass is cannibalizing the RPG’s sales, but Sandfall doesn’t seem to have an issue with the service and actually considers it important to the success of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.

Do you think Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 would have sold more copies if it weren’t on the Xbox Game Pass? Tell us in the comments below or head to the Tech4Gamers forum for discussion.

Marathon Confirmed To Launch Next Year With $40 Price Tag

Story Highlight
  • Bungie has confirmed a $40 launch price for Marathon.
  • The team has also revealed a visual upgrade for the game and other features like proximity chat.
  • Marathon is set to launch in March 2026, but an exact date has yet to be announced.

Bungie has announced a slew of encouraging information for Marathon recently. Following the game’s delay to 2026, a lot has changed with Marathon, including the game’s pricing itself.

Recent rumors suggested that the team would launch its upcoming extraction shooter at a $40 base price. It seems these rumors were spot on, as Bungie has confirmed a $40 MSRP for the title today.

Why it matters: Marathon is set to compete in a saturated live-service market, so many were concerned about the game’s launch price.

The latest Bungie ViDoc discusses various changes to Marathon since the game’s Alpha test.

In particular, the team has highlighted a slew of visual upgrades that have been introduced to the extraction shooter. The title is now more vibrant overall, and Bungie says that the atmosphere has received a major facelift.

Elsewhere, the audio has received a major update. Marathon now features proximity chat for more unpredictable encounters throughout multiplayer matches. The environment itself is littered with unique audio cues for different materials to reflect the interactions between the environment and players.

As stated earlier, the team has now announced a $40 launch price for Marathon. An exact release date does not seem to be set in stone just yet, but the title is said to be targeting a March 2026 launch.

Marathon Bungie
How Marathon looked in the first Alpha build.

PlayStation previously launched Concord at a similar price, and the game eventually ended up falling flat in the face of competition from free-to-play titles.

However, recent successes like Arc Raiders have shown that there is still a market for more expensive multiplayer titles, so it will be interesting to see how Bungie’s upcoming release fares in the market.

What do you think about this price point? Let’s discuss in the comments and on the Tech4Gamers Forums.

Laptops With 8GB RAM Could Be The New Mainstream Amid Shortage and Inflated Prices

Story Highlight
  • 16GB RAM had become kind of a normal configuration for most mid-range laptops.
  • Amid memory shortage, most laptops are now transitioning towards 8GB RAM only.
  • The shortage and high prices are expected to last at least until 2028.

The DRAM shortage is causing a stir in the industry as trends are shifting quite vigorously. Previously, it was reported that smartphones with 4GB RAM are making a return, but things are not looking good on the laptop side of things either.

A report has further revealed that even laptops with 8GB RAM could become the new mainstream amid the memory shortage. This will majorly impact the mid-range segment, which accounts for the biggest chunk of users.

Why it matters: 16GB RAM had become kind of a no-brainer with laptops, with some low-end ones also coming with the same configuration based on how affordable DDR5 kits had become until recently.

Laptop prices
New report indicates that mid-range laptops are transitioning towards 16GB RAM

A recent report from TrendForce rang an alarm bell for midrange laptops as well. While previously most mid-range laptops either came with or were transitioning towards 16GB RAM, this won’t be the case anymore.

Things have taken a step backwards, and 8GB laptops will be more common now. As DRAM supply is limited, and prices of 16GB kits have shot out of reach, manufacturers will be sticking to lower configurations to manage costs.

DRAM memory
The chip shortage crisis is expected to last till 2028

High-end laptops will, of course, still come with higher configurations, but we can expect the prices to increase significantly. What’s even worse is that a major chip manufacturer has warned that this crisis will last till 2028

What are your thoughts on 8GB RAM laptops becoming mainstream due to the memory shortage? Let us know your opinions in the comments or join the discussion at the official Tech4Gamers Forum.
