Blizzard recently announced its next slate of games for the next few years, which includes Diablo 5 and an open-world StarCraft game, targeting a 2030 release. Since Blizzard falls under Microsoft, many wondered if it would be an exclusive title. 

Interestingly, in a recent interview, Blizzard stated that StarCraft won’t be an Xbox console exclusive. However, despite this, they failed to comment on whether it will launch on the eventual PlayStation 6 console. 

Why it matters: Historically, the franchise has mainly been associated with PC, but this time it will launch on Xbox, and with what the studio just stated, we could assume we are looking at a PlayStation release as well. 

Talking to Kotaku, a Blizzard Entertainment spokesperson stated that StarCraft won’t be an Xbox exclusive. When asked if it will release on PlayStation, they declined to comment, which they of course would do, since it’s still years away. 

Now, one would assume that by this they mean it will be exclusive to Microsoft platforms; however, the representative clearly stated that if the source said it will be exclusive, they’ll have to change their headline. 

This is a very weird situation, since Xbox exclusives are making a comeback, but not with every new launch. Gears E-Day will be an exclusive, whereas Fable and Forza 6 aren’t, so it seems the company is still torn somewhere in between.
