- Activision has finally revealed this year’s Call of Duty game, Modern Warfare 4.
- It will be released on October 23 and will be available on PS5, Xbox, PC, and Switch 2.
- The studio promises authentic gunplay and a return to its roots for the campaign.
For the last few years, Call of Duty has become an annual-release franchise. Fans have complained that this has led to deteriorating quality, but Activision has continued the trend and has now officially revealed this year’s release.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare is all set to release on October 23, later this year. Interestingly, for the first time, the game will skip last-gen consoles and will release only on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Switch 2.
Why it matters: Many fans believed that availability on last-gen consoles was holding back modern Call of Duty releases. The studio has listened to the feedback and has completely ditched older consoles.
Activision just held a stream to reveal Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 ahead of its October 23 release. It has also received an action-packed trailer showcasing the new location, story, and some new and returning faces.
The campaigns have been a big point of criticism with the recent entries. This time, it seems more fleshed out as it will take us to multiple different locations, including Korea, New York, Paris, and Mumbai.

Not too many details about the multiplayer have been revealed, but the fan-favorite DMZ mode is set to return. All in all, this year’s Call of Duty seems to have finally integrated some much-demanded changes.
