Lords of the Fallen resonated a lot with players, especially after CI games made the controversial yet successful decision to cater to their audience. Therefore, fan expectations for the sequel are at an all-time high, and the studio is preparing to meet them.

A newly uncovered document now reveals that CI Games has successfully signed a termination agreement with Epic Games to release Lords of the Fallen 2 from exclusivity.

Why it matters: Many fans have argued that the original Lords of the Fallen was held back because of the Epic Games Store, and CI Games’ boss has also hinted that the sequel will benefit from a Steam release.

Lords of the Fallen 2 is not obligated to launch on Epic Games store as part of the termination aggreement.

The document, uncovered by Polish publication Bankier, mentions that CI Games and Epic Games have officially signed a termination agreement. The previous exclusivity deal was cancelled.

The filing also reveals that CI Games delayed announcing this information due to legal or negotiation reasons with Epic Games. It’s now been revealed as ‘inside information’ to investors.

CI Games is free to launch The Lords of the Fallen 2 on other stores moving forward, such as Steam and GOG, to aim for higher sales and player numbers.

For those not in the know, studio boss Marek Tymiński had previously teased ditching Epic Games exclusivity and focusing on a Steam launch by approving a capital raise authorization for the sequel.

The sequel is expected to launch later this year.

Marek has also previously liked and retweeted posts of players asking for a Steam launch for the sequel. So, a day one Steam presence won’t be a surprise to anyone.

The Lords of the Fallen sequel is expected to launch sometime later in 2026 and will be a much darker experience. It will also have a combat feature never seen before in a soulslike title.
