Lords of the Fallen 2 May No Longer Remain Tied To Epic Games Store!

Story Highlight
  • CI Games has approved capital raise authorization for The Lords of the Fallen 2.
  • It will allow the studio to reach higher potential profits and improved valuation.
  • The rumors suggest that the raised capital might be used to buy Epic’s exclusivity rights to LotF2.

The Lords of the Fallen is among the best soulslike games to launch in recent times, so fans have been looking forward to the sequel. However, many of the CEO’s remarks and official confirmation last year suggested that it would also be tied to the Epic Games Store.

New developments now suggest that it is no longer the case, and Lords of the Fallen 2 could very well launch on Steam.

Why it matters: A new tease by the CEO of CI Games suggests that Lords of the Fallen 2 could be set for a Steam and GOG release. Although it’s unclear whether the game will arrive on other PC platforms on day one or end up as a timed exclusive.

CI Games has approved an additional capital allowance for The Lords of the Fallen 2.

As announced on Twitter, CI Games has approved a proposed capital raise authorization, which sets its upcoming releases for ‘higher potential profits’ and ‘improved valuation.’

However, this capital could be used to buy Epic Games’ permanent exclusivity rights for the sequel, which would set it up for a release on other PC platforms.

CI Games CEO Marek Tyminski sparked these rumors after liking several fan comments about a Lords of the Fallen 2 Steam release under the announcement. The studio boss also retweeted a post that discussed the new announcement and the ongoing rumors.

This is a different tune than what the CEO sang last year, so the plans about the future of Lords of the Fallen 2 might have changed since the original reveal. The CEO previously also caused controversy by claiming that Lords of the Fallen carried the torch for Soulslikes.

Regardless, the sequel is also expected to be much darker than the original, so fan expectations are at an all-time high.

Do you think The Lords of the Fallen 2 will launch on Steam day one, or will it come to other PC platforms after a timed exclusivity deal with Epic Games? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers forum.
