- The leaked DLSS 5 implementation has been tested on Nvidia RTX 30-series Ampere GPUs.
- The tests show performance dropping in the single digits and as low as 1FPS.
- Nvidia does not officially support DLSS 5 on RTX 30-series graphics cards.
Several months after DLSS 5 was first introduced, the technology is already in the hands of PC users worldwide. Initial results show massive performance hits, but nothing quite matches how far performance falls on the older Nvidia RTX 30-series GPUs.
Why it matters: Many gamers are still using older Ampere graphics cards, but Nvidia does not cater to them with DLSS 5.

As shared on Twitter, the leaked DLSS 5 mod has been tested on an Nvidia RTX 3080. The only good news is that the mod is technically usable with these GPUs, but the performance quickly reveals why Nvidia does not officially support DLSS 5 on the Ampere architecture.
When running Deep Rock Galactica, enabling DLSS 5 leads to frame rates dropping as low as 1FPS. If this wasn’t bad enough, the average frame rates are consistently in the single-digit range.
Because a capable GPU from the Ampere family is already struggling so much, this means that there is next to no hope for weaker RTX 30-series graphics cards when it comes to DLSS 5.
Other users in the RenoDX Discord server also suggest Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 runs with a similarly abysmal frame rate on an RTX 3070 laptop GPU. This performance has even led to some users considering upgrades for their PCs due to DLSS 5.
Nvidia has yet to officially launch DLSS 5, but because of the recent leaks, the technology has already been tested across a myriad of games. The likes of GTA 5, Cyberpunk 2077, and Final Fantasy 7 Remake have all received DLSS 5 enhancements, giving them new, albeit divisive looks on PC.
