Halo Campaign Evolved Development Reportedly Outsourced To External Studios

The Remake Isn't A Full In-House Halo Studios Project!

Story Highlight
  • Halo Campaign Evolved marks the first big remake for the series.
  • A new report outlines that much of the work on the game, including programming and design, was outsourced to other studios.
  • This appears to be a result of Halo Studios being busy on the next mainline entry.

Halo Campaign Evolved is set to launch later this year and marks the series’ first full remake. Ahead of this release, it is also believed that remakes of the second and third games are in early production.

However, a new report makes matters more interesting. According to prominent Halo insider Rebs Gaming, Halo Campaign Evolved might be best described as an external project.

Why it matters: Halo Campaign Evolved is an extremely important launch for the series since it marks Halo’s PlayStation debut.

In his latest video, Rebs Gaming discussed the fact that much of Halo Campaign Evolved’s development was handled by external teams.

The insider’s sources revealed that a lot of the game’s elements, including programming and design, were outsourced to other teams. This is why the source states that the project isn’t really an in-house production for Halo Studios.

Moreover, the video highlights how a LinkedIn profile further confirms this report, noting that Abstraction Studio handled elements like level and technical design for the game.

It’s not really an in-studio project.

Halo Campaign Evolved Is Expected To Launch In The Summer

This report hints that Halo Studios is fully busy with work on the next mainline entry in the series. There is also word of ongoing development on an extraction shooter title based on the series.

Therefore, it appears the remake and any potential follow-ups are expected to serve the purpose of attracting fans towards the franchise before these big entries launch.
