Halo Studios is currently busy with multiple projects, including Campaign Evolved, and recent rumors also point to Halo 2 and 3 remakes in development. However, the studio is actively developing its next mainline entry as well.
A new report has shed light on the next mainline campaign, which is being called Halo Next. It aims to deliver a “complete and emotionally satisfying story” that will cater to both new players and long-term fans.
Why it matters: The last campaign that was bundled with Halo Infinite was mostly a mixed bag. The open-world structure was boring as it was repetitive, and the story wasn’t very impactful either.
Rebs Gaming recently uncovered a Halo Studios job listing looking for a Narrative Design Director. The candidate will work on the next campaign in the series called Halo Next, which is in active development at the studio.
As stated earlier, the studio is focusing on an emotional story accessible to veterans and new players. Furthermore, Rebs has also revealed that a direct sequel to Halo Infinite called Campaign Next was also in the works.
However, it was canceled following the layoffs at the studio, which even led to it being renamed from 343 to Halo Studios. Now with Halo Next, it could arrive with the upcoming Halo title that is expected to be an extraction shooter.
Now, there is no information on whether the story will tie in with Infinite’s or will be a brand new adventure. Nonetheless, fans will be hoping the studio can finally deliver a fun, polished title that they’ve been longing for.
