Forza Horizon 6 has been a huge success for Xbox and for the racing genre in general on Steam. A majority of critics and gamers alike found it an excellent iteration in the series, so it’s no surprise that it quickly became 2026’s top-rated game on Metacritic after launch.
However, a huge chunk of Chinese players on Steam hold a more critical opinion of the game.
The store’s regional rating chart shows that the simplified Chinese segment has potentially suffered review bombing. It has a mixed score at the moment, with over 8000 negative reviews at the time of writing.
Why it matters: The negative reviews can be attributed to various technical and gameplay issues, including the Simplified Chinese localization reportedly having a poor quality compared to other translations.
While some reviews are full of hate, a majority of opinions by Chinese players on Steam reveal a series of glaring issues amid constructive criticism. Some of these examples have been machine-translated above.
Many users found the Japanese urban reimagining lacking, especially the game’s lack of color composition in visuals and lighting.
Forza Horizon 6’s focus on off-road racing has also been a huge point of contention, as players wanted more urban-focused content. Additionally, the AI is unusually aggressive in the game. AI cars often ram into players instead of driving safely ahead.
To be fair, these criticisms also exist among global users, but they’re just not as vocal and are drowned out by more positive feedback.
