Has Asha Sharma Already Outdone Phil Spencer In Just Over 2 Months!

Story Highlight
  •  Xbox CEO Asha Sharma has earned a lot of praise for her recent decisions despite being in the position for just two months.
  • Fans believe she has already done a lot to rectify Phil Spencer’s missteps.
  • Many now talk more favorably about Asha Sharma than Phil Spencer when comparing the two.

Following Phil Spencer’s retirement in February, Asha Sharma has officially been the CEO of Xbox for over two months now.

While many were initially doubtful of the new Xbox CEO, she has shown herself to be quite enthusiastic about making changes, with some of these even going against the business’ core vision from recent years. As it turns out, many fans have taken a liking to Asha Sharma, even going as far as to say she is doing better than Phil Spencer so far.

Why it matters: Fans had nothing but positive words for Phil Spencer only a few years ago, so the sudden shift in opinions certainly comes as a surprise.

Over on Twitter and social media, many fans have begun comparing Asha Sharma and Phil Spencer as Xbox CEOs.

It appears the changes to Game Pass and the recent address regarding Xbox’s future vision have won the new CEO a lot of praise. Many have even said they feel hopeful about the brand with Asha Sharma at the helm.

Some fans admit that, similar to Phil Spencer, the current Xbox CEO is likely to make mistakes along the way. However, they feel that the small changes made in just the last two months have gone a lot way to address grievances fans had with the company.

Recent changes include a shift away from the “Microsoft Gaming” branding, price cuts for Game Pass Ultimate, discussions around the status of exclusivity, and more. All of this seems to have led to the pendulum swinging in Asha Sharma’s favor.

Interestingly, many have even used the occasion to harshly criticize Phil Spencer and some of his decisions. As seen above, some fans believe that Xbox management and leadership during Phil Spencer’s era were mostly terrible.

Of course, Phil Spencer was the head of the company much longer than Asha Sharma has been so far, so it will be interesting to see how the two compare a few months or years from now. For now, the new CEO has shown immense potential and a willingness to steer the brand in the right direction.
