Ex-PlayStation Boss Says Lack of Bloodborne Remaster Is A Mystery

Former PlayStation Boss Also Wants To See A Remaster Happen!

Story Highlight
  • Former PlayStation executive Shuhei Yoshida says he does not understand why Sony has not remastered Bloodborne.
  • He discussed the fact that PlayStation has remastered various games and ported many to PC, but Bloodborne remains an exception.
  • Bloodborne remains limited to its original PS4 release, with no native PS5 version or official 60FPS update.

Bloodborne fans have spent years asking Sony to revive FromSoftware’s acclaimed action RPG. Despite persistent demand, the PlayStation-owned IP has received neither a PS5 remaster nor a sequel.

Former PlayStation Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida is also confused by the situation. Speaking about the missing remaster recently, Yoshida said he could not understand Sony’s lack of action.

Why it matters: Bloodborne is one of PlayStation’s most celebrated exclusives, but its lack of a modern console version has become increasingly conspicuous as Sony continues remastering other PS4-era and PS5-era games.

Speaking at CEDEC 2026, Yoshida admitted that he would like for Bloodborne to receive the remaster treatment.

He pointed out that it’s not rare to see PlayStation remaster its biggest IPs, with the likes of Horizon, The Last of Us, and many others receiving this treatment. The former PlayStation executive even mentioned the fact that Sony releases PC ports for many of its titles.

Shuhei Yoshida says that PlayStation’s decision in this regard remains a huge mystery. Therefore, he remains unsure whether a remaster will ever see the light of day.

The game has a lot of fans all over the world, but there’s no PS5 version. Well, that is considered a mystery. It might released in the future, or it might not.

Bloodborne Remains A Fan-Favorite Souls-Like To Date

Although nobody has been able to say much on this matter, the current theory is that FromSoftware itself has prevented PlayStation from doing anything with Bloodborne. Perhaps director Hidetaka Miyazaki hopes to remaster the fan-favorite title himself some day.
