Elder Scrolls 6 Needs To Impress RPG Fans In The Post-Crimson Desert Era!

Story Highlight
  • Elder Scrolls 6 is still several years away at this point in time, a notable insider confirms.
  • The first Fallout remaster is expected to come out next year, with ES6 following suit in 2028 or 2029.
  • The Fallout remasters will have a scale like Oblivion Remastered, essentially standing at the level of remakes.

Multiple anticipated Xbox titles are expected to come out next year, but some of its core first-party IPs are nowhere to be seen. The studios under the conglomerate are suffering from long development times, like other Western developers in the industry.

Notable industry insider Jez Corden mentions that Elder Scrolls 6 is still a few years away from launching despite being revealed nearly a decade ago. We know it was announced early to manage fan expectations.

Why it matters: Elder Scrolls 6 needs to impress gamers and at least meet the new standards set by Crimson Desert to justify its long development time. Otherwise, the backlash would be immense, and it may even fail to recoup the development costs spent over the years.

In a new episode of the Xbox Two podcast, Jez Corden explains that a Fallout remaster will launch before Elder Scrolls 6 rolls around. The first remaster is expected to launch sometime next year at the earliest.

By not launching it this year, Bethesda has failed to capitalize on the hype that Season 2 of the TV series generated.

Uh.. I’ve heard that Like [….] Fallout remasters are probably a little bit further off than people think and that Elder Scrolls 6 is still quite far away.

The Fallout 3 and New Vegas remasters are rumored to have the same scale as Oblivion Remastered, so they will essentially be full-fledged remakes.

Meanwhile, Jez mentions that Elder Scrolls 6 won’t launch until 2028 or 2029. Tom Howard previously mentioned that the RPG is based on the classical emergent style of Bethesda games like Skyrim and Fallout, which explains the intensely long development time.

Elder Scrolls 5
Elder Scrolls 6 is being developed using a blend of the Creation Engine and UE5.

Regardless, we may learn more about the Fallout remasters and Elder Scrolls 6 during the Xbox Games Showcase set for June 7th, 2026. It is expected to feature ‘first gameplay looks’ into several upcoming first-party and third-party titles.

Do you think The Elder Scrolls 6 will meet the expectations of gamers in the Xbox ecosystem, or will the long development time still fail to deliver what fans want? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers forum.
