- FromSoftware was “very happy” with the Nintendo Switch 2 after learning about its hardware specifications.
- The Duskbloods is said to have started development in 2021 with the original Switch in mind.
- This was a challenge for FromSoftware, but the team’s shift to the Nintendo Switch 2 makes things a lot better.
FromSoftware has shared a ton of new information regarding The Duskbloods through new previews. The team has also revealed additional details via interviews, with the latest piece of information confirming that the game started out development on the original Nintendo Switch and later benefitted from its successor.
Why it matters: The raw hardware capabilities ended up being the Nintendo Switch’s biggest drawback, but these issues appear to have been addressed with the follow-up.
Speaking to The Verge, director Hidetaka Miyazaki confirmed that the team was “definitely very happy” when Nintendo revealed the Switch 2. This was because the studio found it challenging to get The Duskbloods running on the original Switch, where it initially began development in 2021.
Previously, FromSoftware’s Dark Souls was ported to the original Nintendo Switch. However, the team itself did not offer much support to the console. The Nintendo Switch 2 is already a huge improvement in this regard, with Elden Ring coming this month and The Duskbloods after that.
This is also not the first time a developer has praised the Nintendo Switch 2. Although modest compared to other consoles, Nintendo’s latest hybrid offering has managed to impress many developers.

Of course, FromSoftware has also likely come to understand the Nintendo Switch 2 hardware better after working on the Elden Ring port. This version of the game has shown notable improvements, and The Duskbloods appears to run quite well too.
