- Elden Ring Tarnished Edition is currently the best-selling Nintendo Switch 2 game.
- The ranking shows there is still plenty of interest in the title despite its age.
- Elden Ring’s early excitement could be a positive sign for FromSoftware’s upcoming The Duskbloods and potential future ports.
Elden Ring made waves in 2022, becoming one of the best-selling games of the year and winning several accolades for FromSoftware. This success made it the studio’s biggest IP to date, and FromSoftware is now bringing the same excitement to the Nintendo Switch 2 with the Tarnished Edition.
Ahead of its release, this version is already shaping up to be a massive success.
Why it matters: Elden Ring’s success on the Nintendo Switch 2 could lead to even more FromSoftware titles being ported to the hardware.

As shown above, Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition has become the best-selling Nintendo Switch 2 game. The ranking has changed just days before the Switch 2 version’s release date.
To achieve this position, the game has beaten out Pokémon Pokopia and Mario Kart World, two Nintendo first-party games. As such, there is clearly excitement for the game coming to this platform.
It’s also important to note that FromSoftware is working on another Nintendo Switch 2 game at the moment. The Duskbloods could ultimately benefit from Elden Ring Tarnished Edition’s success on the platform, leading to interest from FromSoftware fans in the upcoming release.
Elden Ring Tarnished Edition’s main appeal largely comes from the promise of a portable Elden Ring experience. Although this was largely possible with hardware like the Steam Deck already, the Nintendo Switch 2 version seems to have audiences interested more than usual.
As mentioned earlier, this game’s success could also lead to FromSoftware porting the likes of Dark Souls 3 and Armored Core to the console.
