Dragon’s Dogma 2 Is Now Steam’s 2nd Best-Selling Game

The Hype Is Real!

Story Highlights
  • Dragon’s Dogma 2 is now among Steam’s top-selling titles.
  • The game has climbed nearly 70 spots on the best-sellers list in the last few weeks.
  • It has also broken into the top 3.

March is here, and the onslaught of AAA games in 2024 is continuing this month. In addition to anticipated releases like the Horizon Forbidden West PC port and Rise of the Ronin, Dragon’s Dogma 2 is set to debut this month.

Capcom’s ambitious RPG has shown a lot of promise so far, shaping up to be a major step forward for the IP. The game’s excitement has already begun to show, with the title climbing Steam’s best-seller charts.

Why it matters: Dragon’s Dogma 2 marks Capcom’s push for $70 AAA releases, but it seems this price tag has had no impact on the game.

Excluding free titles, the game currently sits at the 2nd position on Steam. It should be noted that Dragon’s Dogma 2 has climbed up the charts rather quickly.

Until recently, the RPG was nowhere to be found in the top 3. As noted on Resetera, it was found at the 53rd position not too long ago. The week before that was even worse, with the game being positioned at the 80th spot on this list.

However, in a very short period, Capcom’s upcoming release has already made a place for itself in the top 3. Dragon’s Dogma 2 is set to arrive on March 22, so the game is still around two weeks away.

We expect it to beat Helldivers 2 as the launch draws nearer since the top position is currently occupied by this co-op shooter, which first conquered the top spot last month.

It is also important to note that Dragon’s Dogma 2 is among Capcom’s lesser-known IPs. While the original game had a cult-like following, it never found mainstream attention, making the sequel’s progress even more impressive.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 offers an incredibly dense and open RPG experience. The game refuses to hand-hold players, trusting them to find their way around the intricately laid fantasy world.

These elements have been portrayed exceptionally in the marketing so far, leading to new levels of interest from audiences as the game approaches its launch.
