The gaming industry has faced tumultuous times over the past decade, but Capcom remains one of the few outliers that continues to perform exceptionally well. The brand also aims to expand on its major IPs to ensure this trajectory persists in the future. 

The company’s new report reveals that it moved over a record-breaking number of games in Q1 2026 alone. The unit sales of catalog titles across its various franchises climbed to 21.26 million, surpassing the 13.36 million units in the same period of the last fiscal year.

Why it matters: Capcom has been on a roll recently, with strong releases both in its established franchises and newer experiences like Pragmata. The consistently strong performance has resulted in one of the strongest quarters in the company’s recent history.

As per the financial report, this incredible surge was driven by a mix of new IP (Pragmata) and catalog strength across established series like Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, Devil May Cry, and Street Fighter.

Therefore, the company saw a record-breaking surge of 59% YoY. Its operating profits also climbed to ¥41.05 billion (~$256.6 million USD), which marks a 67% year-over-year increase. This incredible surge reflects Capcom’s ability to continue selling games in established franchises.

Capcom’s FY2026 forecasts also remain unchanged, showing the studio’s confidence. It projects net sales of ¥210 billion (~$1.31 billion USD), operating profit of ¥83 billion (~$518 million USD), and net profit of ¥58 billion (~363 million USD) for the full fiscal year.

As per the report, Resident Evil Requiem has rolled over 8 million units worldwide, while Pragmata sits at 2.5 million copies sold. The new entry in the horror series led the 9th consecutive year of profits for Capcom and proved incredibly popular among new and old players.

Meanwhile, other franchises like Devil May Cry and Monster Hunter also saw remarkable catalog sales. Despite Capcom’s initial reservations about Pragmata, the studio also plans to turn it into an established IP with sequels, thanks to its staggering success.
