The Ori franchise has become universally recognized as one of Xbox’s most beloved IPs. Although the team behind these games was in turmoil a while back, it has found a lot of success with No Rest for the Wicked.
At the same time, fans continue to hope for more Ori, and a new rumor now suggests Ori 3 is in the works.
Why it matters: Xbox’s renewed focus on exclusivity means that the gaming giant needs all the first-party games it can muster to outshine competition, so another Ori game would be quite an asset to its lineup.
As per insider NateTheHate, a new Ori game is currently in the works. The insider has discussed the possibility of this game showing up at Gamescom 2026, but he remains unsure whether this will actually happen.
For context, recent rumors also hinted at a major first-party reveal from Xbox, leading to speculation regarding this title being Ori 3. Of course, Moon Studios has its hands full with No Rest for the Wicked at the moment.
CEO Thomas Mahler has addressed these rumors, hinting at the possibility that Moon Studios may not be involved in the project. The CEO also suggested that the team intends to buy the IP back.
In any case, fans have been delighted by the possibility of more Ori games, and it remains to be seen if Xbox will indeed pull the curtains off this potential announcement at Gamescom 2026.
