Why it matters: With a Metacritic score of 88, the title is among serious contenders for the Game of the Year award in 2026, and along with the acclaim, it is also showing very solid financial performance.

S-Game announced that Phantom Blade Zero has surpassed 4 million copies already. Reports suggested that the action game had already exceeded 1 million sales even before launch, so the numbers are fitting.
Anyhow, fans seem to love the title, calling it a wonderful take on an action game. It is also more accessible, since it’s not a soulslike and has adjustable difficulty. These numbers, as things stand, will only grow even more.

Notably, Phantom Blade is S-Game’s first real venture into proper AAA gaming, so the milestone is even more impressive. Nonetheless, it is already a huge commercial success, and hasn’t even been out for a week.
