Fans Might Not Like This Change In The Remake!

Story Highlight
  • Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced does not allow the use of the hidden blades as a separate weapon in combat.
  • The hidden blades are relegated to context-specific takedowns in the game when an enemy’s guard is broken.
  • Fans don’t seem to like this change and are asking Ubisoft to revert it at launch or in a future update.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is seemingly doing everything right so far, and Ubisoft is even taking the time to address community feedback with the remake.

Amid excitement and buzz for this remake, the team recently held an AMA on Reddit to share even more information with the community. While this sentiment of positivity continues in the AMA, one specific change to the combat has fans disappointed.

Why it matters: Ubisoft promised to deliver a faithful rendition of the pirate-themed Assassin’s Creed with this remake, so fans have been left underwhelmed with this change.

When asked whether the hidden blade combat would return in the same way as the original on Reddit, the Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced development was quick to share a somewhat disappointing update.

While the hidden blades will be used by Edward in combat in the remake, they won’t be a separate selectable weapon in the remake. Therefore, the hidden blades’ role will be much more limited this time around.

According to Creative Director Paul Fu, the hidden blades will be used for contextual takedowns once an opponent’s defense is broken. This change appears to have been made to highlight the dual swords as Edward’s main weapons in combat.

Unsurprisingly, fans have not responded too well to this change. Many have pointed out that the hidden blades were a critical part of Assassin’s Creed 4’s combat system, and removing them would be an unnecessary change to the gameplay.

Some have also asked the developers to consider adding them back into the game at release or in a future update.
