"There Will Be Blood In The Final Game."

Story Highlight
  • AC Black Flag Resynced’s producer confirms that it will not lack gore and blood in the final version.
  • The fans were upset at the lack of blood during the reveal, leading to backlash.
  • The VFX and audio cues during fights are also being toned down in response to criticism.

The official debut of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced brought a lot of positive press for Ubisoft. It was well received by fans for the impressive visuals and overall improved gameplay, but that’s not to say there was no criticism at all.

A lot of gamers were taken aback by the lack of gore elements during the combat segments, which led to a lot of criticism online. However, the game’s producer has now assured the community that there will be blood in the game in the final release.

Why it matters: Appropriate levels of blood and gore in Black Flag Resynced could make or break fans’ reception. A sanitized version would feel pretty unrealistic to many and take away from the overall immersion of the remake.

Speaking on X, producer Justin Ng jokes that blood in Black Flag Resynced won’t be a paid DLC, so gamers don’t need to worry about the lack of gore in the debut trailer. It was reportedly ‘toned down’ to ensure that fans of all ages could safely see the action segments.

The loud VFX and audio cues during the action segments will also be lowered to address another part of the criticism by the community. Justin also confirms to another fan that social stealth mechanics will be a part of Black Flag Resynced.

In other words, the remake will allow players to hide among groups of NPCs and hire dancers to distract enemies.

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is a full-fledged remake of the original release.

For gamers who prefer little to no gore, the remake will likely include a toggle to turn it off, like the recent modern Assassin’s Creed entries. It’s unclear if Resynced would feature enhanced gore features like dismemberment and the other grim stuff, but that seems unlikely.

In other news, a side-by-side comparison shows the remake’s parkour flow seems janky compared to the original.
