Non-2026 Games Generated Nearly Half of The Revenue!

Story Highlight
  • New data shows Capcom has generated $617 million in 2026 so far on Steam alone.
  • Almost 61% of the overall sales came from the Resident Evil IP, with Requiem leading.
  • Nearly 50% of the total sales were games that were released before 2026.

Capcom has been synonymous with high-quality releases for years now. The studio has released 4 games this year; all of them scored 85+ and have sold over a million copies, showcasing what an incredible year they’ve had so far.

A new report reveals that Capcom has generated $617 million in sales from Steam alone in 2026, and over 60% of it came from the Resident Evil IP. Additionally, around 50% of the sales share belonged to older games.

Why it matters: While this year has undoubtedly been a standout for Capcom, this data shows how consistent the studio has been for so many years, and how even its older titles are selling as well as the newer releases.

Data from Alinea Analytics reveals Capcom made $617 million in revenue in 2026, with 49.1% of that coming from non-2026 games. Resident Evil was the biggest driver, with more than half of the overall sales.

As expected, Resident Evil Requiem was the company’s top-selling game on Steam this year, with 3.6 million copies sold. Pragmata came in third with 1.2 million sales on the platform, highlighting a solid year yet again.

It is so remarkable that even in a failing gaming industry due to insane budgets and inflation, Capcom still managed to deliver. It is among the only studios that have managed to stay profitable for almost a decade now.
