Generated Over $600 Million in Combined Revenue!

Story Highlight
  • New data reveals that Steam has already generated $15 billion in revenue so far in 2026.
  • The highest-grossing games were Forza 6, Crimson Desert, and Resident Evil Requiem.
  • The rest of the top 6 include Slay the Spire 2, Subnautica 2, and Meccha Chameleon.

The gaming industry isn’t doing too well, especially in the hardware space, led by AI-driven shortages that have caused insane price hikes. Despite that, 2026 has been fantastic for game releases, with a whole lot more coming.

New data shows that 2026 releases generated massive revenues in 2026, and leading the race are Forza Horizon 6, Crimson Desert, and Resident Evil Requiem, in that order, all of which recorded over $200 million in revenue.

Why it matters: Despite 2026 being a dark period for gamers due to rising hardware costs, we have been eating well in terms of new game releases, and it has been one of the best years of the decade.

Forza 6, Crimson Desert And RE Requiem Were the Highest-Grossing 2026 Games on Steam

Alinea Analytics has revealed that Steam has already generated over $15 billion in revenue in 2026, around 15% up from the last full year. Again, Microsoft, Pearl Abyss, and Capcom were the most successful in the race.

All three of the top titles were amazing, garnering overwhelming reviews, and the latter 2 also getting nods toward a possible GOTY award. Other titles joining the top 6 include Slay the Spire 2, Subnautica 2, and Meccha Chameleon

Forza Horizon 6
Forza 6 has been the most successful game on Steam this year

Out of 6, three are indie titles, if we classify Subnautica in that category. Just the top 6 account for a total of around $1 billion in revenue, and we are still 4 months away from 2027, so this has been a huge year.
