Don't Expect Any More PC Releases From PlayStation!

Story Highlight
  • Sony has released a new ad emphasizing “Only on PS5” games.
  • Games like Marvel’s Wolverine, Ghost of Yotei, Astro Bot, and Saros are featured in this video.
  • The advertisement is meant to be a renewed push toward console exclusivity following the gaming giant’s shift away from PC.

Following a long period of experimentation with PC ports, one many thought would lead to day-one PC releases from Sony, the gaming giant has pivoted back to console exclusivity yet again.

This is why games like Marvel’s Wolverine and Ghost of Yotei are expected to skip PC altogether, and to drive this point home, PlayStation has even released a new advertisement video.

Why it matters: Many thought PlayStation would lean further into PC gaming over time, but the gaming giant went in the completely different direction. This commercial further cements this decision.

The 30-second advertisement shows Sony is leaning harder into the PS5’s exclusive identity again, with a new advertisement highlighting games under the “Only on PS5” banner.

The ad appears to reaffirm Sony’s focus on console-first experiences after years of increased PC support, showcasing specific games that have yet to receive PC ports, in addition to upcoming PS5 exclusives.

Upcoming games like Marvel’s Wolverine and God of War: Laufey are highlighted in the video, but older titles like Astro Bot and Gran Turismo 7 are also showcased prominently in this advertisement.

As such, all these games appear to be off the table, when it comes to potential PC ports.

Like PlayStation, Xbox has also returned to exclusives recently. As it stands, both gaming giants appear to be focusing on the more traditional aspect of their console rivalry, pitching their first-party exclusives as must-have titles for console owners.
