During Xbox’s Summer Games Showcase, Microsoft had many important announcements, including exclusivity for Gears of War: E-Day. The gaming giant also announced a new special edition console, the Xbox Series X25.
Reports now suggest this console is coming in a few months, and it comes with a heavy price tag.
Why it matters: The Xbox Series X consoles have already become quite costly following price hikes, but the upcoming special edition hardware is even more expensive.
According to Dealabs, the console launches November 27. As seen above, this special edition features a transparent green design, leaning into the classic Xbox aesthetic that longtime fans associate with the brand.
The most interesting part here is that the Xbox Series X25 is said to cost a whopping $900, making it the most expensive Xbox ever. This price tag also puts the console in competition with the PS5 Pro, although the latter is much more capable.
Xbox is clearly targeting enthusiasts with this system, but even for them, this price tag could prove to be quite egregious.
Still, the fact that the console will be a one-off might make it appealing to those interested in collecting rare hardware. For those interested in simply grabbing the special edition controller, that will run gamers back $80.
