- Call of Duty: Black Ops 1 and 2 have sold around 11.2 million copies on the PS5 together in July.
- Halo: Campaign Evolved only moved 351k units in comparison last month.
- The new Halo remake has been outsold by COD ports by a devastating 32-to-1 ratio.
Halo Campaign Evolved has had a mixed start. The remake dominated Steam as the top seller for a while but launched to the lowest player count and negative reviews across all platforms. The developer team was also hit with layoffs soon after its launch.
However, the game also appears to have sold poorly on PS5, showing that Xbox took its exclusive icon to the Sony ecosystem for no reason. Recent analysis from a reputable data firm reveals that COD Black Ops 1 and 2 outsold Halo CE by a whopping 32 times.
Why it matters: July was a great month for remakes on the PS5, but Halo Campaign Evolved still suffered from review bombing and negative reviews. It also failed to have the same sales momentum as some of the glory releases in the past, like Halo 3 and Reach.

The sales data by Alinea Analytics shows that Halo Remake only managed to achieve over 351k copies on the PS5. Meanwhile, COD Black Ops 1 saw 3 million sales, while Black Ops 2 surpassed 8.2 million units. Collectively, the two moved over 11.2 million units.
This is a devastating 32-to-1 sales ratio that confirms the early sales momentum of Halo CE is nowhere as strong as Black Ops 1 and 2. The total Halo remake sales across all platforms are also not much better, as the number failed to reach 1.5 million units.
In other words, the Black Ops 1 and 2 ports on PS5 alone outperformed Halo CE cumulative sales across all platforms.

This figure is quite worrisome for the already struggling Halo franchise, as this remake was meant to usher in a new golden age for Halo Studios. Instead, Campaign Evolved failed to make enough of a mark in its early days, as the shift to Unreal Engine 5 backfired.
New reports now suggest that the Halo 2 remake might not see the light of day anymore.
