Master Chief's Return Pushed Classic Game To The Top!

Story Highlight
  • Halo: Campaign Evolved is currently Steam’s top-selling game globally.
  • The remake officially launches later today, although early access has been live for a few days.
  • Despite the strong results, early access player count figures aren’t the most impressive.

Halo: Campaign Evolved could be on its way to securing a major early sales milestone. The title previously accumulated solid reviews, and despite becoming one of the worst-rated mainline entries of the series, the remake is now showing a lot of potential.

Halo Campaign Evolved has climbed to the top of Steam’s global best-sellers charts shortly after release.

Why it matters: Halo has struggled to maintain its former dominance. Reaching Steam’s top position suggests that interest in Master Chief and the original campaign remains exceptionally strong.

Halo Campaign Evolved Is Doing Great on Steam

As seen on Steam, Halo Campaign Evolved is currently the #1 best-selling premium game on Steam globally. This puts the remake ahead of every other paid release ranked by the storefront at that time.

At the time of writing, even highly-discounted titles like Cyberpunk 2077 are failing to keep up with the remake. Moreover, the game has outpaced a recently released remake like Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced.

The current sales performance is important because Halo originally debuted nearly 25 years ago. As such, it seems there is still plenty of interest in the series despite Xbox’s constant mismanagement of the Halo IP.

The Remake Does Not Include Multiplayer

Halo Campaign Evolved officially launches later today, but the game has been available to early access players for a while.

Over on Steam, the title has peaked at under 20K concurrent players in early access, which for a massive release is admittedly disappointing. However, there’s no telling how much better the remake will perform once the general public gets access to it.

It is also said that Xbox plans to remake Halo 2 after this release, so solid commercial performance will certainly please the gaming giant.
