Halo Remake Sales Disappoint: Cumulative Numbers Barely Hit 1.5 Million Across All Platforms

Halo Campaign Evolved Is Not Selling As Well As Expected!

Story Highlight
  • Halo: Campaign Evolved has had less of a sales head start than many would have expected on all platforms.
  • The remake only moved about 900k copies on Xbox, 212k on Steam, and just 351k on PS5 in July.
  • It has overall sold about 452k copies on PlayStation to date, which barely puts it above the 1.5 million sales mark.

Halo: Campaign Evolved is experiencing a highly controversial launch period despite impressing many gamers. The title was review-bombed for facing a variety of issues and appears to have failed to match the allure of prime projects like Halo 3 and Reach.

A new report now reveals that Halo: Campaign has not sold as well as expected during its first few days across all platforms. The game’s cumulative sales numbers barely cross 1.5 million copies worldwide.

Why it matters: The Halo remake’s mediocre sales and player reception suggest the current trajectory is not signaling the start of a new golden age for the IP, as the studio expected. The number of bugs also reflects the studio management woes that were previously reported.

Halo: Campaign Evolved has only sold 351k copies on PS5 in July.
Halo: Campaign Evolved has only sold 351k copies on PS5 in July, according to data firm Alinea Analytics.

Credible data firm Alinea Analytics reports that Halo: Campaign Evolved sold around 900k copies on Xbox, a disappointingly low 212k on Steam, and just 351k on PS5 in July.

However, the remake sold 452k copies on PlayStation to date, making only $28 million in revenue on the platform. On a similar note, another report revealed that Campaign Evolved only captured 1% of the entire PlayStation fan base.

Whether this little revenue bump and fan base capture was worth surrendering the remake’s Xbox exclusivity is up to you to decide. Regardless, the aforementioned 452k PlayStation sales figure helps the game surpass the 1.5 million mark in its first week.

Halo Campaign Evolved
Halo Campaign Evolved has failed to sell as well as the more established older titles in the franchise.

Many gamers have argued online that this sales trajectory suggests the remake fell flat instead of ushering in a new golden age for the franchise.

COD Black Ops 1 and 2 remakes, in comparison, have sold like hotcakes on PlayStation; July overall was a great month for remakes and remasters compared to original releases on PS5. Unfortunately, Halo Campaign Evolved appears to be the sole exception here.
