Over on Twitter/X, the studio’s CEO responded to the backlash by defending the use of AI, arguing that Evie, the character featured in the video, was originally created by the development team.

Evie was created from head to toe by our talented artists and modelers. The AI is not creating her from scratch.

Shift Up CEO Kim Hyung Tae hoped to dismiss concerns that the work was based on someone else’s creative material. However, this was not enough to convince upset critics of the AI promotional video.

Many pointed out that the studio should have used relied on the same “creative artists” who created the character to develop the promotional video. Many also reiterated that the video itself does not look all that impressive.
