The Last of Us franchise stands out as one of the hallmarks of PlayStation, according to many gamers. It has seen several remasters over the last few years, but that’s all the studio has released since the PS5 generation started.
Naughty Dog is now celebrating The Last of Us Part 2’s 6th anniversary on Twitter, with many fans also joining in the congratulations. However, a slew of comments have called out the studio about a lack of new games in over six years.
Why it matters: Naughty Dog is considered one of Sony’s best cinematic single-player game makers, boasting franchises like The Last of Us and Uncharted. However, its lacking portfolio for over half a decade has plummeted its reputation.

Over on Twitter, several comments from gamers have piled up in the replies to the post, calling out Naughty Dog for not launching a new game in over six years. Some even worry that the studio might skip the majority of the PS5 generation.
However, it’s not like the team hasn’t been developing new games over the years. The Last of Us was supposed to get an online counterpart, which was canned in December 2023. It was 80% completed, so its cancellation proved to be a severe setback for the developers.
Naughty Dog is seemingly prepping multiple games now. Its new sci-fi franchise, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is aiming for a mid-2027 launch and is working under a crunch to avoid delays.
On a side note, our exclusive report also revealed that Intergalactic could come out much sooner than expected.
Multiple insider rumors and the franchise director also teased that Naughty Dog is working on a new Uncharted game alongside Intergalactic.
Lastly, reports also revealed crucial leaks about The Last of Us Part 3, which is rumored to launch in the middle of the PS6 generation.
