EA Is Shutting Down Another Game Despite Recent Stop Killing Games Petition Going On

Need For Speed Rivals Online Servers Are Getting Shut Down!

Story Highlight
  • EA is shutting down Anthem early next year, but before that, the company has announced that it will shut down the servers of NFS Rivals.
  • This has caused another controversy because there is a campaign going on to stop the killing of video games that has crossed 1.3 million signatures.
  • However, it should be noted that the company intends to shut down only the online servers.

The giant publishers in the gaming industry don’t care about the fandom, which has become pretty evident recently. European citizens started a petition to stop the killing of video games, which the EU acknowledged.

However, corporate giants like EA, Microsoft, Sony, Ubisoft, and many more don’t want the fandom to have its way. These companies have straight up said that they need to reserve their right to shut down any video game they want to. So, to no one’s surprise, EA has announced that it will be shutting Need For Speed Rivals servers in October 2025.

Why it matters: Gamers have been trying for a long time for the companies to listen to them, but they aren’t bending a knee.

On the official website, EA has added Need for Speed: Rivals to the list of games that are getting delisted. The game’s online servers will be shut down on October 7, 2025

Fans are pretty shocked by the company delisting one of the most popular games. However, it should be noted that EA isn’t completely shutting down the title. The company is only shutting down the online servers, so fans would still be able to play the game in offline mode

That said, it is still absurd that these gaming giants can get away with doing anything. Ubisoft was sued for the shutdown of The Crew, and the company literally filed a motion to dismiss on the basis that gamers were never promised to receive permanent access to the game’s license.

Damn, Stop Killing Games is needed more than ever, no wonder those corpo want it down.

This is exactly why people need to sign the petition.

No your lying, this is one of the best need for speed games.

-Upset Fans

While the fandom is showing discomfort, they should be aware that only the online servers are being shut down.
