FFVII Rebirth Director Claims PS5 Not Good Enough To Handle ‘Richer’ Visuals

Seems Like PC Will Always Be Ahead Of Consoles.

Story Highlight
  • Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth director Naoki Hamaguchi claims that PS5 is insufficient to handle richer visuals.
  • The entry is getting better visuals for high-end PCs that PS5 cannot process.
  • Naoki also wants PC users to get into the Final Fantasy franchise, finding Rebirth to be the perfect entry point.

The PC vs. console argument has grown stronger over the years. Some prefer PCs over other platforms for the best experience, while others find consoles to be more convenient because of the—now endangered—first-party exclusives and easy access. Now, PC gamers are excited about the arrival of FF7 Rebirth for PCs, as the game’s director says the RPG will look much better on it.

Naoki Hamaguchi claims that the PS5 is just not good enough to handle better visuals for FF7 Rebirth. So, developers will add even ‘richer’ visuals for the upcoming PC release on January 23.

Why it matters: The words of the FFVII Rebirth director further conform to the argument that high-end PCs are inherently better than consoles.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
FF7 Rebirth Director has also previously confirmed to be an Xbox fan, finding its hardware to be great.

In an interview with Epic Games, Naoki claims that FF7 Rebirth will be an even better experience for PC players. The criticized lighting rendering has been ‘greatly adjusted’ for the PC version to remove the uncanny visual effect that would happen with character faces on PS5.

For high-spec PCs, we have prepared even richer 3D models and texture resolutions that cannot be processed on the PS5.

Additionally, Naoki thinks FF7 Rebirth is the perfect entry point for PC players to get into the Final Fantasy franchise, as it has been associated with being a console series till now.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth failed to sell more than the first part.

All in all, FF7 Rebirth has been criticized for suffering from blurry visuals on PS5 on various forums. But it is still best to take the director’s words in a positive light, as titles on high-end PCs always tend to perform better than their console counterparts.

Do you think Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will manage to pull off even better character models and visuals on PC compared to PS5? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the official Tech4Gamers forum.
