God of War Ragnarok Crowned Best PlayStation Exclusive In Huge Poll

Won Official Sony Poll After Thousands of Votes!

Story Highlight
  • Sony’s official Twitter page held a tournament with 16 exclusive games.
  • God of War 2018 and Ragnarok reached the final, showing this IP’s dominance.
  • God of War Ragnarok managed to beat its predecessor, becoming the best PlayStation exclusive.

Recently, Sony’s official Twitter account created a friendly tournament for its exclusive games. There were a total of 16 games, and the competition between them was fierce.

With the likes of Spider-Man, The Last of Us, and more, the competition was rarely one-sided. Sony also left out Bloodborne, but the overall tournament was quite enjoyable to follow. Several days later, God of War Ragnarok has come out victorious

Why it matters: PlayStation offers many of the best single-player IPs, so this no comparison between the exclusives was easy to make.

The tournament finale saw Santa Monica Studio’s latest God of War titles going against each other. Both games are incredible in their own ways, solidifying Kratos as one of gaming’s best characters.

God of War Ragnarok has sold 15 million units so far and recently received the outstanding Valhalla DLC. Because of this popularity and its status as the more recent game, it was fairly easy to see the sequel beating out its predecessor.

However, both games had close competition. God of War 2018 lost by around 5%, securing 47.6% of the votes. Perhaps the results would have been different with Bloodborne’s inclusion, but it is hard to argue with the results.

It should be noted that nearly 40K Twitter users voted in this poll.

PlayStation’s focus on first-party titles means that any of the games could have won this poll. The Last of Us, Ghost of Tsushima, and more are all worthy of this honor, with each fan having their picks.

However, Sony’s official results seem to echo an opinion the community has held for a while. Past polls have often put God of War at the top, and the latest outcome further cements this series’ legacy.

The fact that God of War returned from the brink of failure after Ascension failed is an achievement in itself. Therefore, this finale is a testament to Santa Monica Studio’s talents as developers.

God of War Ragnarok was also in the race for Game of the Year in 2022. While Elden Ring swooped the award, Kratos’ latest journey was unanimously recognized as one of 2022’s best releases.

Following this result, the series is not done yet. More games are on the way, with remakes, spin-offs, and sequels expected in the future. We hope to see this series maintaining the same level of consistency as we await the next grand adventure.
