Suicide Squad Steam Player Count Now Lower Than Gotham Knights

Gotham Knights Also Had A Bigger Launch!

Story Highlight
  • Suicide Squad came out last month, but its Steam player count is already abysmal.
  • The game is now matching Gotham Knights’ player count and often going below it on Steam.
  • Over the last seven days, Gotham Knights had a higher peak concurrent player count.

Suicide Squad is on track to become the worst example of live service gone wrong. Amid Warner Bros’ attempt to cash in on the live-service craze, the publisher has failed to release a compelling product.

In the aftermath, Rocksteady Studios’ latest game has been bleeding players since release. After falling behind Batman Arkham Knight and the whole Arkham series, the game’s player count is rivaling Gotham Knights, frequently dropping below it.

Why it matters: Gotham Knights earned its fair share of criticism in 2022, with many hoping Rocksteady Studios would step up after WB Games Montreal failed to live up to expectations.

On Steam, both games have had similar player counts recently.

In fact, Gotham Knights has the higher all-time concurrent peak, with over 20K players from release. Meanwhile, Suicide Squad peaked at under 10K players in early access, with the full launch not doing much to help.

Both games have less than 300 players at the time of writing, peaking at under 600 players in the last 24 hours. However, Gotham Knights peaked at 1175 players in the last week, while Suicide Squad stayed below 1000 players.

Both superhero titles are trading blows, but Suicide Squad has begun to fall behind, highlighting the dire situation of this live-service entry. It also had a lower number of daily average concurrent players last week.

On its own, Gotham Knights is by no means an excellent title. However, it seems fans are turning toward its more traditional single-player experience with optional co-op compared to the forced live-service approach of Rocksteady Studios’ latest release.
