Marvel’s Blade Trailer Now On Xbox Channel; Exclusivity Nearly Confirmed

Trailer Is Not Up On PlayStation's YouTube!

Story Highlights
  • Marvel’s Blade was announced at The Game Awards 2023.
  • The game is being developed by Arkane Lyon, but Microsoft has not confirmed exclusivity yet.
  • The reveal trailer still hasn’t been uploaded on PlayStation’s YouTube channel.
  • Xbox has just uploaded the trailer, hinting that the game will be exclusive to Xbox Series S|X and PC.

Recent rumors suggested that a title from Arkane Lyon would appear at The Game Awards. Many expected it to be Deathloop or Dishonerd due to claims, but the game turned out to be Marvel’s Blade.

Marvel has already said it will focus more on games after EA’s Iron Man. Therefore, this reveal was a nice surprise for audiences, but many remained confused since Bethesda decided to stay quiet about the game’s exclusivity.

Several days later, recent events have nearly confirmed that Marvel’s Blade will be exclusive to Xbox.

Why it matters: Xbox promised to launch at least four exclusive games each year. Following its acquisition of Activision Blizzard, the giant is focusing more on publishing games, and the latest announcement brings it one step closer to the goal of becoming an even bigger publisher.

When the game was initially revealed, it lacked any hints of Xbox. While Arkane Lyon is now a first-party Xbox studio, the lack of marketing from Microsoft led to speculation about the game possibly being multiplatform.

Xbox had also refrained from uploading the game’s trailer to its official YouTube channel, adding to the doubts. However, the trailer is now on the channel with an Xbox splash screen at the end.

Though the splash screen does not confirm exclusivity, putting two and two together, it seems highly unlikely for this Marvel game to arrive on PlayStation. Disney has also collaborated with Xbox for other exclusive projects.

The upcoming Indiana Jones game from MachineGames will not be available for PlayStation, so a similar scenario appears to be happening for Arkane Lyon’s game.

Interestingly, Marvel’s Blade is nowhere to be found on PlayStation’s YouTube channel.

Therefore, we can confidently say that this Marvel adaptation likely won’t be coming to PlayStation, even though an official announcement has not been made.

Social media users have suggested that Microsoft is careful about exclusivity announcements due to its ongoing feud with the FTC, hoping to prevent news that could give the regulator leverage over Xbox.

All the signs point toward Marvel’s Blade’s position as a major exclusive for Xbox. Going by past first-party titles, this superhero adventure will join Game Pass’ growing library at launch while arriving on platforms like Steam for PC.
