Prepare For New Trailer!

Story Highlights
  • It has almost been a year since Hideo Kojima announced Death Stranding 2.
  • The developer recently teased the game’s appearance at The Game Awards.
  • The official Twitter account of The Game Awards appears to be teasing something as well.

Death Stranding 2 was officially announced during The Game Awards 2022. The official reveal trailer was full of mystery and showed the return of Norman Reedus as Sam. Since then, the game has not shown up again.

However, Hideo Kojima began to put out subtle hints recently. As early as August, he was teasing a trailer after he used the editing machine. Last month, his tweet led to speculation about the game showing up at The Game Awards 2023.

Following these hints, the official Twitter account of The Game Awards seems to be teasing Death Stranding 2 for the event.

Why it matters: Death Stranding 2 is one of the biggest games of the next few years. With the first game selling 10 million copies, its sequel is expected to attract an even bigger audience.

Kojima is known for editing the trailers for his games on his own, and they always turn out to be quite spectacular. This time will be no expectation, and Hideo Kojima recently tweeted images indicating that he was tuning the audio for a new trailer.

The Game Awards then replied with an emoji, which has now been deleted. However, fans were quick to capture a screenshot, and the deleted tweet certainly suggests that something is in the works.

Kojima was already editing the trailer before Gamescom, so it is likely to be ready by now. With only one major event left before the end of 2023, an appearance from Death Stranding 2 at The Game Awards seems like a given.

It has already been four years since Death Stranding was first released.

While this game was initially met with skepticism, a unique twist on traditional gameplay mechanics and narratives helped it become one of the developer’s most popular IPs.

Since Geoff Keighley and Hideo Kojima have always been on good terms, the chances of Death Stranding 2 showing up at The Game Awards 2023 are quite high.

This game is shaping up to be the developer’s most ambitious project, with new handpicked actors like Shiori Kutsuna and Elle Fanning expanding the cast for a more intriguing narrative. Therefore, we can’t wait to see the game again next month.
