Lords of the Fallen is the latest offering from developer Hexworks, and while the game didn’t reach the bar that FromSoftware has set for Souls-likes, it has become a valuable addition to the genre, evident by its score of 77/100 on Metacritic.
The game has been through a rocky journey after negative reviews and a number of problems during recent updates. However, the Souls-like has been an undeniable success for Hexworks, selling over 1 million units in 10 days.
Why it matters: October had a plethora of great releases, like Assassin’s Creed Mirage and Spider-Man 2. As such, the game had many titles to contend with.

Celebrating this achievement, publisher CI Games declared Lords of the Fallen as the studio’s most important release in two decades. The game’s official Twitter account then confirmed the 1 million sales milestone.
This figure puts the Souls-like ahead of competition like Lies of P, which required nearly a month to achieve similar sales. While Lies of P had a much better reception, it appears Hexworks saw more commercial success.
Following the announcement, the developers have promised to further improve the game. Recent updates have already addressed many of the issues, adjusting the gameplay mechanics according to player feedback.
Lords of the Fallen now supports crossplay for Xbox Series S|X and PS5 consoles, with the feature also coming to PC on 26 October.
Patch v.1.1.224 is now live for Steam, while console updates are in the works with more news coming soon.

Additional improvements have been made for a smoother experience on PC, limiting crashes and improving frame rates for mid-range hardware.
We are glad to see Hexworks and CI Games boasting such incredible success for their latest release. The studio has confirmed that this release puts them on a promising trajectory, ensuring smooth development for future projects.
According to reports, Hexworks plans to release two expansions for the Souls-like. Therefore, the Souls-like is just getting started, with updates being released on a regular basis and more content on the way.
