PlayStation is gearing up for its next PC port. Following a disappointing release with The Last of Us Part 1, PC gamers are hoping PlayStation will not disappoint with the PC port for Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.
The game is set to release on July 26, and the official system requirements have just been confirmed ahead of launch.
Why it matters: The PC system requirements allow PC gamers to judge how well a game will run on their systems. Unlike consoles, PCs have a lot of combinations, so developers release recommended configurations before each new title.
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart’s PC port is being handled by Nixxes Software.
The developer has previously worked on the Spider-Man PC ports, leading to high expectations for Ratchet & Clank. The game’s recommended specifications for 1080p are not too high, suggesting a GeForce RTX 2060 or Radeon RX 5700.
With the requirements suggesting an AMD Ryzen 5 3600 or Intel Core i5 8400 processor, the upcoming PC port should run well on most mid-range PC builds. However, users looking for the 4K experience with the highest settings require expensive hardware.
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart recommends a GeForce RTX 4080 or Radeon RX 7900 XTX for 4K60FPS gameplay. The game also asks for top-tier CPUs like the Intel Core i7 12700K at these settings.
PC gamers should note this hardware is recommended for users looking to enjoy the game with ray tracing enabled. Additionally, Nixxes suggests using upscaling technologies like DLSS for these demanding settings.
During the game’s launch, Insomniac Games boasted the dimension-hopping mechanic. This mechanic utilized the PCIe 4.0 NVME SSD on the PS5. Surprisingly, SSDs are not mandatory for the game on PC.
While the game may be able to run on traditional hard drives, further testing will show the difference between slower hard drives and SSDs. Still, the requirements page states that SSDs are preferred, and users will require over 75GB of free space.
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart marks the iconic character’s first appearance on PC. Many gamers are excited to try the franchise for the first time and hope that Nixxes Software will deliver an impressive PC port.
