AMD board partners might be working on a new mid-range RDNA3 GPU, according to a report shared by Igor’sLAB. This mid-range RDNA 3 graphics card is reportedly ready to be showcased in just a few weeks.
Currently, in the mid-range lineup based on next-Gen architecture, there are no graphics cards from both AMD or Nvidia. The next graphics card that Nvidia is expected to launch is the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti. The company also reportedly held a meeting with its board partners last week, though there was no discussion regarding the upcoming RTX 4060 series.
The current market is quite grim without options starting at $400-$500 for a mid-range graphics card with no updates from either of the manufacturers.
On the other hand, AMD is reportedly working on launching the Navi 33-based desktop graphics card anytime soon. The entry-level Navi 33 graphics card will be making its way to both desktop and mobile platforms. Furthermore. Igor’sLAB claims that we might see the mid-range Radeon RX 7600 graphics cards from the board partners at Computex.
According to Igor’sLAB
“What I can confirm, however, is that individual (!) AMD board partners will show a Radeon RX 7600 as a finished product at Computex”
The mobile version of Radeon RX 7600 is based on RDNA 3 GPU with 1792 shaders and 8GB of GDDR6 memory. Aside from that the Radeon RX 7600S also features 32MB of on-die cache known as infinity L3 Cache.
The Radeon RX 7600S has a total TDP of 80W and trades blows with the mobile variant of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 at 1080P. However, the performance is much worse with ray-tracing as expected from all RDNA 3-based graphics cards.
Judging from the performance of the mobile Radeon RX 7600S, the desktop variant should perform much better. Though we might see AMD include more VRAM with the desktop variant of Radeon RX 7600S. This would also be in line with other RDNA3 desktop graphics cards.
Both the Radeon RX 7900 XT and Radeon RX 7900 XTX come equipped with 20 GB and 24 GB of VRAM respectively. So it would make sense for AMD to bump up the VRAM limit from 8GB to maybe 12GB on its mid-range cards. That would not only make them future-proof but would also perform much better in games with high VRAM requirements.
