Release Date Announcing Soon?

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was announced over a year ago. Since the sequel’s announcement in 2021, no official information regarding the game has shown up, aside from leaks and rumors.

However, a Reddit thread may have revealed a new detail on the game. In a new AMA session on Reddit, the voice actor of Spider-Man/Peter Parker, Yuri Lowenthal, revealed that he finished his motion capture for the game.

Although it is unknown whether motion capture for all actors is complete, it can be assumed that a majority of the work is done, considering that the protagonist’s part has been captured.

This has led to speculation about the game’s development proceeding smoothly, with motion capture being completed for the entire cast of characters featured in the upcoming release.

For those unfamiliar, motion capture is one of the most significant aspects of game development and involves capturing movements and facial animation of actors to translate into the digital world, mainly for action sequences and cutscenes.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is slated to launch in Fall 2023. The voice actor of Venom, Tony Todd, also revealed that the anticipated game may release in September. Following this information, another insider source also confirmed the September release window.

The game’s marketing is also said to go into full swing just a month before the game’s launch. Currently, details on the game are limited, but we hope to see a proper reveal at the upcoming PlayStation showcase, reportedly arriving before June 8.

Insomniac Games previously teased new dialogue technology for Spider-Man 2, which will result in more natural conversational dialogue by the NPCs of New York.

Spider-Man 2 is set to feature iconic foes like Venom. It will also see the return of the second Spider-Man, Miles Morales. In addition, Insomniac Games has also teased the addition of Brooklyn and Queens in its open world.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is shaping up to be an exciting release. The game will be exclusive to PlayStation 5 at launch, but it might come to PC at a later date. The hype for the game is at an all-time, and it is expected to improve on the solid foundation Insomniac games set with the first two entries.

Are you excited about Marvel’s Spider-Man 2? What are your thoughts on the sequel?
