Xbox CEO Asha Sharma has been quite reactive to the community’s feedback so far, introducing the Player Voice System.
Changes have already been implemented following this introduction, and the CEO has even brought back exclusives, which many asked for through Player Voice. Teasing another upcoming change to the Xbox ecosystem, Asha Sharma has responded to a question about the company’s answer to PlayStation Platinum Trophies.
Why it matters: Platinum Trophies have been a staple of the PlayStation ecosystem since the PS3 generation. Many feel something similar needs to show up on Xbox.
When asked to introduce a Platinum Trophy equivalent for Xbox Achievements, Asha Sharma suddenly responded on Twitter. She noted that the team is currently working on something for later this year. As such, a major revamp could be coming to Xbox Achievements for the first time in many years.
Asha Sharma has yet to share any additional details, but this update could be a major deal, especially for completionists who enjoy collecting all achievements across a wide range of games.
The current Xbox achievement system is built around Gamerscore, with each achievement contributing points to a player’s total. This system has been part of the platform’s identity since the Xbox 360 era and remains one of Xbox’s most recognizable social features.
Platinum Trophies, on the other hand, help others easily identify how many games a player has truly completed through one identifiable figure. Perhaps Xbox’s answer will offer a similar visual marker for players on its platforms.
Elsewhere, Asha Sharma has led Xbox’s return to exclusives and focus on a traditional console ecosystem. All of these put together, the CEO has done a phenomenal job listening to the community across various matters so far.
