- Ubisoft continues its layoff streak with a new wave of reduction in headcount.
- It has removed a number of employees and also closed its Winnipeg studio.
- The company says it is going through restructuring, so the measures are necessary.
Ubisoft’s image has crumbled over the years based on mediocre releases and continued layoffs. It did win back a lot of fans showcasing the Black Flag 4 Remake, but right after this, another catastrophe occurred at the studio.
According to a new report, Ubisoft has continued its streak of layoffs and reduced the headcount by dozens. This has also led to the shuttering of the company’s Winnipeg studio, which provides development support to other teams.
Why it matters: The French gaming company stated earlier this year that it is going through major restructuring and layoffs will indeed continue until it has attained the desired results, and so more people will suffer.

Insider Gaming has learned that Ubisoft laid off a number of employees along with shutting down the Winnipeg studio. The team didn’t directly develop games, but has assisted others with titles like AC Vallhalla, Far Cry 6, and more.
It is understood that the studio closure cost 85 jobs. In addition, 120 people working on Rainbow Six Siege, and 50 working on Rainbow Six mobile have also lost their positions, pointing towards a huge massacre of headcount.

In the first two months of 2025, the company laid off over 150 employees. It also noted a €1.3 billion loss over the last fiscal year. And now to manage expenses and budgets, it is going through a strict restructuring.
