- Leaked performance benchmarks suggest the Radeon RX 9070 XT features an updated BIOS and a higher TBP of 329W.
- The RX 9070 XT sits in performance between AMD’s 7900 XTX and Nvidia’s 4070 Ti when it comes to rasterized graphics.
- The driver for the RX 9070 XT is still not final and is expected to get better.
Aside from the new GeForce RTX 5000 series, we know almost nothing about the RDNA4 graphic cards. That said someone at Chiphell, might have gotten their hands on a Radeon RX 9070 XT graphics card.
Why it matters: The leaked details about the RX 9070 XT suggest that AMD is making significant changes, especially in ray tracing, which could challenge Nvidia’s offerings like the RTX 4080/4808 SUPER.
The pictures have since been taken down to prevent any possible NDA problems. Interestingly, the thread was initiated by Napoleon, who is both a reviewer and administrator at Chiphell.
Napoleon also cautioned against making a hasty purchase of the RTX 50 series, claiming that “everything has changed.” Reportedly, the Radeon RX 9070 XT now comes with a new BIOS, and AMD supposedly raised the card’s TBP to 329W, confirmed by a screenshot from Furmark.
Furthermore, a 2520 MHz base clock and a 3060 MHz boost clock were also disclosed in the leak. Asus manufactured this specific Radeon RX 9070 XT model, which has 4096 Stream Processors and 16GB GDDR6 Hynix memory.
That said the driver is still in its early development stage and is expected to get better. In terms of performance, the alleged AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT now ranks between the 7900 XTX and the 4070 Ti in the rasterized Time Spy Extreme test.
On the other hand, the Ray Tracing performance has also been improved with performance between the 7900 XTX and the RTX 4080 SUPER in Speed Way ray-traced benchmark.
We recommend taking this information with a bit of caution, as synthetic benchmarks don’t always reflect real-world performance. However, these early leaked benchmark results seem promising.
