- A new report claims Sony has become more open to licensing PlayStation IPs.
- Sly Cooper and Killzone are being discussed as examples of franchises that could benefit from outside studios.
- Multiple other IPs could be revived as part of the initiative.
PlayStation is currently said to be exploring opportunities to bring back its classic IPs. However, because most of its studios are already busy with upcoming projects, it is said that Sony is going the licensing route.
In fact, word on the street is that Sony is now accepting pitches for new games.
Why it matters: Fans have wanted to see various iconic IPs brought back for many years now, especially with a lot of franchises being stuck in limbo for the longest time.

Sony has reportedly become more willing to license out dormant PlayStation IPs to external studios, according to a recent report.
This information, via Reddit, comes from the same leaker who revealed the existence of God of War: Sons of Sparta, and it is said that current discussions revolve around games like Killzone, Sly Cooper, and Ape Escape.
It is said that PlayStation is interested in funding the projects while hiring third-party teams to work on the games. Games like Killzone are even rumored to be supervised by the original teams.
As for other potential candidates, titles like Resistance, Infamous, and more could end up coming back as a result of this new initiative.

Of course, these projects would likely require several years to come to fruition. For PlayStation fans, however, this seems to be good news, especially due to ongoing demand for more classic releases.
