PC Gamers Are Okay With The Loss of PlayStation Ports And Plan To Stick With Steam!

Story Highlight
  • PC gamers recently discussed PlayStation’s decision to stop porting single-player titles to the platform.
  • Many stated that this move would not be enough to convince them to buy a console since they prefer PC as a whole.
  • Others also pointed out that there are many games to play on PC even without PlayStation’s first-party output.

Following multiple reports of Sony’s changing PC strategy, a recent report practically confirmed PlayStation’s plans to move away from PC ports via an internal town hall meeting.

As expected, this report has garnered interesting reactions from both PC and console gamers. Interestingly, many PC gamers state that they are completely okay with this move from Sony.

Why it matters: PlayStation’s new strategy means that games like Ghost of Yotei, Marvel’s Wolverine, etc., might never show up on PC.

Jason Schreier’s recent update on the matter was shared on Reddit, and in the comments section, PC and console gamers alike took to discuss their thoughts on PlayStation’s pivot to exclusivity.

Over on r/pcgaming, one Redditor noted that he didn’t miss out on much despite not buying a PS5. Responding to this comment, another Redditor noted that he was ultimately let down by Spider-Man and doesn’t feel too inclined towards PlayStation first-party titles as a result.

Why would a PC gamer buy a 600 dollar PS5 for a few games? The PC gamer simply ignores Sony games and plays other PC games.

Many also noted that they would not be buying a PlayStation console despite this shift, reaffirming their dedication to PC as a platform. Others remarked that there are simply too many options in the modern gaming landscape to lament the loss of PlayStation’s first-party portfolio on PC.

We don’t need their exclusives when there’s so many games to play on PC.

On the other hand, some PC gamers also expressed disappointment in the fact that games like the Uncharted trilogy, Demon’s Souls, and more were never ported to the platform before PlayStation’s return to exclusivity.

Ultimately, however, it seems a huge number of PC gamers don’t deem the loss of Sony’s first-party titles too huge a blow to the platform.
