Fans Declare God of War Greek Trilogy Superior To Norse Saga In Major Poll

Story Highlight
  • Fans recently picked between the God of War Greek and Norse eras in a poll.
  • The Greek saga ended up winning the poll, thanks to its set pieces, sense of scale, gameplay, and more.
  • Many also admitted to the strengths of the Norse saga but agreed that the Greek titles aged better.

The debate between God of War’s new and classic titles will seemingly never end. Where the latest titles took the franchise to never-before-seen levels of success with millions of sales and critical acclaim, the original Greek trilogy established Kratos as an icon of PlayStation.

As of today, fans love both eras of the IP, but a new poll suggests that the perception of the God of War Greek trilogy is slightly more favorable.

Why it matters: PlayStation has recently announced a remake of the God of War trilogy, so fan admiration for the classic games is a great sign of success for the franchise moving forward.

God of War Poll
God of War Poll via Resetera

Fans recently created a poll on Resetera to pick between the Greek and Norse eras of God of War. As shown above, the Greek era won the poll with 50.5% of the votes, while the Norse era earned around 49.5% of the votes.

The results were extremely close, but after 2,000 votes, it seems fans have voted in favor of the Greek trilogy. In the comments, many pointed to God of War 3 as the best of the franchise, picking the Greek era thanks to this title alone.

For context, God of War 3 featured incredible boss battles, a relentless pace, and genre-defining visuals for the time. As fans put it, the game was one of PlayStation’s best releases of the time.

Many also discussed the sense of scale in the older games as something that remains unmatched to date. This is best seen in boss battles against formidable foes like Kronos.

On the other hand, fans pointed to the Norse era’s strengths in storytelling. However, where God of War 2018 was appreciated by most fans, Ragnarok received criticism for offering an unsatisfying conclusion to the Norse era.

I enjoyed 2018, and Ragnarok was fairly good, but you just cannot beat the Greek era games in scope, variety, and set pieces.

First Look At Amazon’s God of War Adaptation Has Fans Very Skeptical About The Show

Story Highlight
  • Amazon has revealed a first official look at the God of War TV Show.
  • Fans are skeptical from the initial look and claim it looks more like a cosplay.
  • The expectations are quite high based on how successful the franchise is.

God of War is one of Sony’s most loved exclusive franchises of all time. Fans have grown to love its characters and the brilliant stories. So, when Amazon announced a TV adaptation, fans were really excited for it.

Amazon has now finally revealed the first official look at the show, and there is a lot of skepticism around it. For one, it looks like a cosplay and doesn’t look remotely close to a high-budget TV show.

Why it matters: The first look will be really off-putting for people who have been looking forward to the show. The casting looked promising, but the first image suggests a lot of work needs to be done.

First look at God of War TV Show

The first look at the show hasn’t been met with the enthusiasm that Amazon might have expected. It gives us a look at Kratos, played by Ryan Hurst, and Atreus, played by Callum Vinson, and it isn’t promising.

While Vinson’s Atreus looks fine, Hurst’s Kratos doesn’t seem to share the powerful demeanor of his counterpart from the games. Fans also point out that the actor hasn’t bulked up enough for the God of War role.

Despite this, the series is still in early production, so Amazon might listen to the feedback and improve things. It is currently also too early to judge, and that too by a single image, so let’s hope for the best.

PSSR 2 Update Bridges The Quality Gap Between PS5 Pro’s Upscaler And DLSS 4.5

Story Highlight
  • Sony has finally made the PSSR 2 update official for the PS5 Pro with Resident Evil Requiem.
  • It is a visible upgrade that narrows down the quality difference between PSSR and DLSS 4.5.
  • They have also added a system-wide toggle to force it into older games as well.

Sony has finally made the much-awaited PSSR 2 official, and it starts with Resident Evil Requiem. PS5 Pro is undisputedly the best console to experience the title based on the crisp visuals, and it’s apparent why.

The first iteration of PSSR, launched with the PS5 Pro, had all sorts of issues from blurry visuals to bad performance. But testing proves PSSR 2 is a worthy upgrade, as it bridges the gap between Sony’s tech and DLSS 4.5.

Why it matters: Resident Evil Requiem runs at upscalted 4K 60 FPS with Ray Tracing on the PS5 Pro, with no visible flaws, highlighting how big of an upgrade the generation of the tech is compared to the original.

In Digital Foundry’s testing, PSSR 2 is much closer to the visual fidelity of DLSS 4.5 and FSR 4, which is a huge step up. Technically, DLSS 4.5 is still superior in finer details, but Sony’s tech has somewhat caught up now.

Compared to FSR 4, it is superior in certain regions, especially when handling ghosting. The former was also reported to be softer in certain scenarios. Overall, it’s a big upgrade that now justifies buying a PS5 Pro.

PSSR 2.0
PSSR 2 is now closer in quality compared to DLSS 4.5 and FSR 4

Compared to its older generation, the difference is day and night. The first-gen used to make games so look so soft to a point that they looked better on the base PS5 compared to the Pro console.

Additionally, Sony has also added an option to force PSSR 2 in older games where the visuals looked soft and blurry like Silent Hill f. The tech has gone from being the console’s weak point to now one of its selling points.

HP Warns Rising RAM Prices Now Responsible For More Than 33% of PC Cost

Story Highlight
  • HP has confirmed that memory can now make up for a third of a PC’s cost.
  • The company is investing in long-term memory supply and other measures to combat rising costs.
  • Even with these measures in place, price hikes for RAM appear inevitable.

According to Yahoo Finance, HP has now announced that RAM accounts for more than one-third of the price of the PC.

This announcement comes shortly after the corporation raised the prices of several of its PCs in response to shifting market conditions. These shifting times are defined by a large increase in RAM costs, which has a noticeable impact on the computing industry.

HP Dell and Lenovo memory Price Increase Crisis

RAM has become so pricey that it now accounts for 35% of HP’s overall computer production costs.

This information was given by the firm during its most recent earnings call, where Bruce Broussard, HP’s interim CEO, provided background, which was necessary to explain the decrease in sales and the subsequent reduction in future predictions.

Even though RAM is a tiny component that has little impact on the system unless it costs as much as the primary hardware, it has become more expensive than many high-end processors and graphics cards. This means that modern computers have three top-tier components, which raises prices significantly.

The main issue is a memory shortage, which has been pressuring the supply chain for months due to demand from AI infrastructure and data centers. These are the companies that are effectively absorbing all memory capacity and driving up prices.

HP, like other manufacturers, recognizes that it operates in a “dynamic” environment with escalating costs and volatile component prices.

HP Dell Acer and ASUS using DRAM from China

While HP has certainly been affected, the company has stated that it is implementing a fairly aggressive set of actions. This includes ensuring a long-term memory supply, building a strategic inventory for critical platforms, and, most importantly, expediting the approval of new materials and suppliers.

Moreover, HP and other businesses would use Chinese memory to avoid shortages. HP also mentioned employing AI to optimize end-to-end operations for inventory management, logistics, and planning. This directly indicates that investors should reduce their expenditure when revenues are likewise harmed.

However, even with these quality measures, if RAM prices continue to rise, the cost will have to be offset in some way. HP is avoiding announcing an immediate, all-encompassing price rise.

But it admits to implementing “selective pricing actions” to offset the residual damage, coordinating with distributors and direct customers.

Enhanced PSSR Officially Rolls Out for PS5 Pro, Debuting First With Resident Evil Requiem

Story Highlight
  • Enhanced PSSR has finally launched for the PS5 Pro, debuting with Resident Evil Requiem.
  • A system update next month will enable it for all titles that support the original PSSR.
  • Sony and AMD worked on FSR 4 for 6 months, refining it into Enhanced PSSR, as part of Project Amethyst.

Aside from ranking the best mainline game from the series in over 20 years, Resident Evil Requiem is also a technical masterpiece that shines across all consoles. Specifically on the PS5 Pro, the game runs and looks flawless.

Such a great performance was made possible by the enhanced version of PSSR, which debuted today with Resident Evil Requiem and will be available for more titles next month.

Why it matters: The older PSSR version was underwhelming and failed to become the selling point for the PS5 Pro. With this new update, the PS5 Pro could finally be redeemed, helping extend its lifecycle.

As part of Project Amethyst, a joint collaboration with AMD, PlayStation has released the next iteration of its upscaling technology, exclusive to the PS5 Pro, now referred to as ‘Enhanced PSSR.’

On a new PlayStation Blog, Masaru Ijuin from Capcom briefly discussed this new tech and how it has helped Resident Evil Requiem look so good on the PS5 Pro.

The upgraded PSSR has allowed us to elevate our expressiveness by successfully processing these details and textural particularities, which are traditionally difficult to upscale because of their intricacy.

The developer further talked about how intricate the game’s details were, from each hair strand and beard being rendered as a single polygon and moving in motion as light passes through. The crispness of the image quality with this level of detail would be lost with the base PSSR, unlike the newer iteration.

sony pssr
New Sony patent discusses a PSSR upgrade that dynamically switches between different CNN precisions based on GPU load.

From the base FSR 4 upscaler, Sony had worked 6 months refining the technology to prepare it for the PS5 Pro as the Enhanced PSSR. While the upscaler is exclusive to Resident Evil Requiem just for now, a system-wide update in March will make it accessible to other titles that support the original PSSR.

This is why Resident Evil Requiem also ran well on the PS5 Pro, maybe even too well. Now, with more titles supporting the new tech, it’ll be surprising to see how big a jump this mid-gen refresh console gets. GTA 6 will be the ultimate test for Enhanced PSSR when it launches later this year.

Samsung And SK Hynix To Sharply Increase DRAM Prices In Q2 2026

Story Highlight
  • Major DRAM manufacturers are set to hike DRAM prices further in the upcoming months.
  • Samsung and SK Hynix have told their customers that prices will increase in Q2 2026.
  • Analysts predict that the overall price increase could reach 130% this year.

The tech industry is super volatile right now due to the AI boom, which has led to massive shortages and price increases. RAMs and SSDs now cost a fortune, and the situation is tipped to worsen this year.

According to a new report, Samsung and SK Hynix have reportedly told their customers that DRAM prices will increase sharply in Q2 2026. The demand is at its highest, and the supply isn’t enough to meet global demand.

Why it matters: While there were some reports that RAM prices are somewhat stabilizing, this indicates that it won’t be for much longer, as two of the biggest manufacturers have already rung alarm bells.

DRAM Q1 2026 brutal crash
DRAM prices are expected to increase further in Q2 2026

The report states that Samsung and SK Hynix have warned their customers about another incoming price hike in Q2. Some analysts have predicted that the overall price increase could reach 130% this year.

Moreover, it is revealed that Samsung Electronics‘ current production capacity can only handle about 60% of the volume due to the continued increase in DRAM requirements. The data centers are increasing, so is the demand.

DRAM manufacturers
Major manufacturers have warned about an incoming price increase

The company’s customers only care about securing as much volume as possible and don’t care about the prices, so manufacturers are free to hike them as much as they want. Some analysts have warned of even higher prices.

Nonetheless, it doesn’t seem we’re getting rid of this crisis any time soon. Recently, Phison’s CEO predicted that the situation could persist through 2030 and could even go on for a whole decade.

Story Highlight
  • Resident Evil Requiem has achieved a concurrent player peak of 267k on Steam, more than any other title in the horror series.
  • The game overtook Resident Evil 4’s player peak just one hour after release.
  • Furthermore, Requiem has become the most-played single-player title on Steam, with only Dota 2 and Counter-Strike 2 surpassing it in player count.

After all the hype surrounding its release, Resident Evil Requiem has launched to universal acclaim from both fans and critics alike. The horror game has become the highest-rated mainline entry in the franchise in over two decades, with reviews calling it a fantastic blend of action and horror.

On the commercial front, the Capcom title is selling out across all physical retailers and has also become the franchise’s biggest hit on Steam, reaching the highest concurrent player count in Resident Evil history.

Why It Matters: Resident Evil Requiem has paid off all the anticipation leading up to its release, delivering a brilliantly optimised project with the story and action to back it up.

Customer Buys $300 DDR5 RAM Kits And Ends Up Receiving Memory Worth Over $3000 Instead

Story Highlight
  • Memory prices continue to soar, pushing the cost of an average 32GB DDR5 kit to $300-400.
  • A Redditor recently lucked out with this purchase, receiving 10 kits for the price of one.
  • He intends to sell the rest of the kits at a price below MSRP to help the struggling community of PC builders.

As the tech industry continues to navigate the new era of increasing memory prices, various absurd stories have gained traction recently.

One Redditor shared incredible finds after dumpster diving for memory, and another received pebbles after ordering an RTX 5070 Ti. As the bizarre stories continue to come out one after another, another user has now received 10 DDR5 RAM kits for the price of one.

Why it matters: Most people rarely, if ever, experience this type of luck, so it’s always interesting when similar posts turn up on social media platforms or forums.

DDR5 Memory Kits Redditor Luck
Redditor Lands on DDR5 Memory Gold Mine

Over on r/PCMasterRace, Redditor u/AccomplishedFan8690 recently shared that he ordered a single 32GB kit of Corsair Vengeance DDR5 memory for around $300, but lo and behold, an entire box shipped with 10 kits instead.

For anybody curious, this box is worth at least $3,000 at the time of writing, but with the current trend of prices and shortages, it could end up being valued anywhere between $5,000-10,000 by the end of the year.

According to the post, this mistake appears to stem from Amazon confusing a single item, in this case the RAM, with a full box of said item. Judging by the number of similar posts showing up on Reddit and other platforms lately, this type of mishap happens more often than one would think.

The good news here is that the Redditor claims to be selling this RAM at under MSRP to those in need of an upgrade or a memory change. Of course, this hasn’t stopped many from recommending he do the opposite.

Some have even accused the user of stealing, but the Redditor remains firm that this mistake is Amazon’s and not his.

This story of luck aside, RAM prices continue to soar for the time being. It is said that this could be the case until 2030, putting immense pressure on not only the PC industry but practically every industry that utilizes modern technology one way or another.

PlayStation Backtracking on Its Single-Player PC Port Strategy, Reliable Insider Confirms

Story Highlight
  • Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier says Sony is pulling back from releasing first-party single-player games on PC.
  • This means that Marvel’s Wolverine, Intergalactic, and the God of War games will be PlayStation exclusives.
  • On the other hand, Xbox has also confirmed that it’s thinking of bringing exclusivity back.

The era of exclusivity seemed to be over when Sony first released 2018’s God of War on PC a few years ago, and Xbox went down the publisher route with all of its new first-party titles being multiplatform.

Or at least that’s what we thought, so. According to a new report, Sony is pulling back from releasing first-party games on PC, backtracking on its original strategy.

Why it matters: Sony’s first-party single-player catalog is the biggest reason why PlayStation is regarded as the best console. It seems that with increased competition, they want to make exclusivity a core feature for their platform again.

PC Ports Are Quite Cheap For The Gaming Giant, And They Only Require Email Approvals

Speaking in the latest episode of Triple Click (on the 43-minute mark), Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier said he believes Sony will pull away from traditional first-party single-player releases on PC. However, live-service games will continue to release on PC, maybe even Xbox, but that remains to be seen.

I think the sense I’m getting is that they’re backing away from putting their exclusive console stuff like traditional single-player stuff on PC.

He further adds that the upcoming Marvel’s Wolverine won’t be released on PC either. This also excludes the possibility of other future first-party story games on PlayStation, including Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet and the upcoming God of War games.

Initially, this was thought to be speculation, but the insider doubled down on his claim, confirming the story.

jason schreier resetera
Jason Schreier Doubling Down On His Take || ResetEra

Jason Schreier will soon publish a story talking in depth about this matter. Surprisingly, the insider said that all the games Sony published on PC weren’t successful. This makes sense considering PC ports only account for less than 2% of their overall yearly revenue.

Sony just announced a Death Stranding 2 PC Port, but it is notable to mention that it’s not a first-party release. As for Ghost of Yotei, it’s unclear whether that game will arrive on PC, as plans for a PC port may have been in place before this strategy change.

At the same time, recent rumors suggested that Sony had cancelled many of its first-party ports for PC. With this change, Nixxes Software will most likely be out of commission as well.

On the flip side, Xbox has also hinted at making first-party releases exclusive again under the newest CEO, Asha Sharma. For Team Green, nothing is set in stone, so they’ll decide this later.

It is quite possible that Sony felt threatened by the next-gen Xbox, which is reportedly a hybrid PC, meaning it can run PlayStation PC games as well.

Warner Bros Hints At Major Games Releases For 2027 And Beyond

Story Highlight
  • Warner Bros Games has teased a return to form for 2027 and 2028.
  • The gaming giant is expected to launch the Hogwarts Legacy sequel next year, among other titles.
  • Other games in development at the studio include Rocksteady’s new Batman project, NetherRealm Studios’ next fighting game, and more.

Warner Bros Games has been mostly silent after the debacle that was 2024’s Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Since then, the publisher has shuttered Monolith Productions and cancelled Wonder Woman.

All of this came as a huge shock after Hogwarts Legacy’s success in 2023. As it works toward bouncing back, the publisher is now teasing major releases for 2027 and 2028.

Why it matters: WB Games owns some of entertainment’s most iconic IPs, which have also made a huge name for themselves in the gaming world.

Batman Beyond
Rocksteady Is Currently Working On A New Batman Project

In a new interview, Warner Bros Games CEO JB Perrette confirmed that the studio would offer major releases in 2027 and 2028. The CEO admitted that the team needed a reset this year and stated that it would ‘return to its biggest franchises’ in these years, but did not specify any particular names.

This statement comes following rumors of Hogwarts Legacy 2 launching in 2027. At the same time, WB Games studios like NetherRealm and Rocksteady have been busy working on new projects for quite a while.

Going by NetherRealm’s typical release cycle, a new fighting game, potentially another Mortal Kombat, could arrive by 2028. Similarly, Rocksteady’s upcoming Batman game could also show up in 2028 if things work out for the team.

The real fruits will start coming in 27-28 when we return to some of our biggest franchises.

Resident Evil Requiem Physical Stock Running Out As Game Sold Out Everywhere

Story Highlight
  • Demand for Resident Evil Requiem is incredibly high, and it seems Capcom is struggling to keep up.
  • The title is no longer available to buy physically across most storefronts.
  • Many gamers who had already purchased the game are now reporting delays and cancellations to their orders.

Resident Evil Requiem has become one of Capcom’s most critically acclaimed titles already, and it seems gamers around the globe are excited to finally try the series’ latest offering.

Previously, analysts predicted that Resident Evil Requiem would end up as one of the best-selling entries in the series, and this prediction appears to have been spot on. Reports on social media suggest that the game is currently sold out across multiple stores.

Why it matters: Physical copies of games don’t typically sell out, even in cases of extremely anticipated releases.

Resident Evil Requiem Physical Edition Sold Out
Resident Evil Requiem Physical Editions Are Sold Out | Image via Twitter

As reported by Shinobi602, Resident Evil Requiem was already sold out in stores like Walmart, GameStop, and Amazon soon after the reviews went live. At the time of writing, this is still the case, and it seems many gamers are now beginning to lose patience.

Many have taken to social media to share the status of their Amazon pre-orders. Users BlackMajikMan90 and JimAlan shared screenshots confirming that their orders had been pushed back further to later than the February 27 release date.

Some, like SavageCitizen, have yet to even receive an estimated release date for their Amazon pre-order. As VicariousNick points out, the situation isn’t too different for orders placed on the GameStop website.

The silver lining is that Resident Evil Requiem can still be bought digitally for those unwilling to wait. Capcom has likely been made aware of the demand for the physical edition and will work on increasing stock levels, but till then, it seems the digital option remains the best choice for those looking to play the game on day one.

Previously, this phenomenon was observed when Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 sold out across multiple storefronts. If this similarity is any hint, Capcom is in for unprecedented success come Resident Evil Requiem’s launch.

Major Poll of Nearly a Million Votes Shows Most Gamers Don’t Care About Multiplayer Games

Story Highlight
  • A new poll with nearly a million votes shows that most prefer single-player games.
  • They prefer story elements over anything.
  • The multiplayer genre has also become increasingly fatiguing and stagnated recently.

The gaming industry has been pushing multiplayer games really hard in the last few years to the point that this genre has become incredibly saturated and fatigued. In the search for nailing the perfect live-service title, publishers have poured hundreds of millions of dollars down the drain.

Gamers themselves don’t like this push and have continued to retaliate. In fact, there are several studies and cases of gamers voicing their disinterest in this genre, including this poll with nearly a million votes, in which more than half of the respondents say they don’t care about multiplayer games.

Why it matters: Multiplayer games themselves aren’t bad, but it’s the publisher forcing elements gamers dislike, including live-service elements and, more importantly, microtransactions, which are a huge issue in the industry.

Major Poll Revealing What Gamers Prefer In Titles || YouTube

FaulesGaming posted this poll on YouTube, which has amassed 834,000 votes in just 20 hours. The poll asking “What do you care about less over time?” gave 4 options: Graphics, Story, Difficulty, and Multiplayer.

Unsurprisingly, the Multiplayer option received the most votes, followed by Graphics, then Difficulty, and lastly Story. It has been made pretty clear that a good story is what hooks most people to games in the first place.

One notable comment under the poll also had the following to say:

I’d play a game that looks like a PS1 game if it was fun to play and had a good story and characters.

It does make sense, since single-player games are here to stay, whereas multiplayer titles will cease to exist in just a few years from launch. Graphics are also an aspect gamers seem to care a little about, and in the past few years, we’ve hit a bit of a roadblock.

Single Player Games
Another Study Previously Showed 53% Gamers Preferred Single-Player Games Over Multiplayer

Games can’t get any better looking than what we have now. The only things developers can improve are art style and attention to detail. Difficulty is also an element that really depends on the player, but we’ve seen that gamers have become open to extremely challenging titles in the past few years, since the rise of the Souls genre.

For the story, there really isn’t a compromise, and any game lacking that element is considered a flop. In fact, a near-perfect release with a lacking narrative can ruin the entire experience, i.e., Duke Nukem Forever.
