RTX 5070 Ti To Suffer From Supply Shortage Just Like RTX 5080 And 5090

Story Highlight
  • A major retailer in Germany states the RTX 5070 Ti will be available in limited quantities, like the RTX 5080 and 5090.
  • PC gamers can expect inflated prices for these graphics cards and potential scalping.
  • Retailers expect to receive around 10 to 20 units at most.

Nvidia debuted its latest generation of graphics cards not too long ago, but prices have been sky-high due to supply shortages. As the gaming giant gears up to release even more GPUs into the market, it seems additional supply shortages are inevitable.

According to the latest reports, the RTX 5070 Ti is poised to suffer from similar issues later this week.

Why it matters: The RTX 5070 Ti seems to be one of the better Blackwell gaming graphics cards. However, those looking to buy the GPU will likely be unable to find stock in most stores on launch day.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Ti
The RTX 5070 Ti Will Be Very Difficult To Find At Release

As per Winterhertz, the RTX 5070 Ti’s situation will not be too different from that of the RTX 5080 and 5090, at least in Germany.

The user was provided this information via Alternate, a major electronics retailer in the country. Because the Blackwell generation’s current situation is so dire worldwide, it seems safe to assume that other countries will follow a similar pattern.

Other sources suggest retailers will receive no more than 10 or 20 units on launch day. The GPU was also listed on BestBuy earlier this week with prices as high as nearly $1,000.

Therefore, even if gamers can find stock in limited quantity, it will be sold at a huge premium over the advertised $750 MSRP.

5070 Slower Than 4070 Super Raw Performance
The RTX 4070 Ti Super Is Still A Solid Option For 1440p Gaming

As potential customers wait for updates on the supply situation, reviews of the RTX 5070 Ti are expected to go live later today. The slew of media coverage coming soon should give consumers a better look at how the graphics card stacks up compared to Nvidia’s performance claims.

If the other Blackwell GPUs have shown anything, the RTX 5070 Ti will offer a modest upgrade over its predecessor. As such, it may be best to avoid a purchase if the prices are too high due to limited supply.

Ex-Amazon Prime Gaming VP Talks How The Company Failed to Dethrone Steam For Over 15 Years

Story Highlight
  • Amazon spent over 15 years trying to challenge Steam but failed with multiple strategies, including acquisitions, a Twitch-based store, and cloud gaming with Luna.
  • The key mistake was underestimating Steam’s social hub, library, and marketplace strength.
  • The former VP stresses understanding customers before big moves—an area where Amazon failed.

Steam remains the dominant PC gaming platform, unmatched by competitors like Epic Games, GOG, and the Xbox app.

In a new LinkedIn post, the former Amazon Prime Gaming VP discusses the same battle. He reflects on Prime Gaming’s fight to take over Steam as the leading gaming platform. According to him, the battle started way before his joining and lasted more than 15 years.

Why it matters: PC gaming is unified under Steam, despite Valve not being a billion-dollar corporation like Amazon. Its success lies in understanding gamers’ needs, unlike larger corporations that often impose their ideas.

In the post, Ethan Evans discussed multiple ways they tried to challenge Steam. The first began with their acquisition of Reflexive PC Store, a PC gaming store they tried to scale but ultimately failed to do so.

Their next attempt was to capitalize on Twitch’s acquisition by building another PC store on the platform. They assumed that if the platform were the biggest way to stream games, players would naturally buy products from them. However, their assumption was way off.

Amazon’s last attempt to enter the gaming realm was with Luna, a promising cloud-based streaming network. However, cloud gaming was pushed way too early, and ultimately, Luna and its competitor, Google Stadia, failed while Steam continued to dominate.

Steam Sets New Record with 18,825 Game Releases in 2024.

Ethan notes that corporations missed what made Steam unique: a social network, store, and trophy case package. Steam prioritizes its users with features like community pages, chat rooms, and social profiles, setting it apart.

If anything, Steam isn’t going anywhere, and no new corporation won’t dare to compete with the store after these colossal failed attempts.

Former Sony Executive Says PS6 Launching in 2028 ‘Feels Right’

Story Highlight
  • Shuhei Yoshida says that the PS6 launching in 2028 feels right to him.
  • He said the previous console cycle was 7 years, but he thinks this year it should be more.
  • The PS5 faced slow growth during its launch due to semiconductor shortages at that time.

PlayStation 5 has emerged as the undisputed king of home consoles this generation. While the sales are still going strong, fans have already started wondering when the next console will be released. Fortunately, we might have a subtle hint about it.

Former Sony Interactive Entertainment executive says that the PS6 releasing in 2028 would seem like the right move if Sony does go on with it.

Why it matters: The PS6 already sounds like a revolutionary console on paper and could feature AMD’s highly acclaimed X3D Cache technology which could be a big step up from the PS5.

Yoshida says that the PS6 release in 2028 feels like the right move

Talking to VentureBeat, Shuhei Yoshida talked about the life cycle of consoles. The PS4 lasted for about 7 years which means PS6 could drop by 2027. However, Yoshida thinks that it would be a bit too early.

At its launch, the PS5 was scarcely available due to the semiconductor shortage caused by the pandemic. So, it initially faced very slow sales; therefore, a 2028 release date just ‘feels right’

The PS5 generation was slowed down because of manufacturing issues. If the next PlayStation comes out in 2028, that feels right to me.

– Shuhei Yoshida

He also talked about how rumors also point to the next Xbox releasing in the same year. There are diminishing returns from semiconductors, so both launching in the same year could be the right move.

Nevertheless, Yoshida said he didn’t know what was planned internally, but this is what he thought would be the right time for the next-gen PlayStation. After spending over 30 years with the gaming giant, the former executive recently left Sony.

Do you think the PS6 will launch in 2028? Or will it launch earlier than that? Let us know your opinions in the comments or join the discussion at the official Tech4Gamers Forum

Marvel Rivals Seattle-Based Director And Entire Team Laid Off Despite Huge Success

Story Highlight
  • Despite Marvel Rival’s huge success, Netease laid off the game director and his entire Seattle-based team.
  • The director announced his layoff on LinkedIn, also hoping to find a new position for his fellow employees.
  • The increasing wave of layoffs in the industry has become concerning, as 1000 game devs have lost their jobs since the start of 2025.

Update: Netease has issued a statement saying that the layoffs were a difficult decision made for “organizational reasons and to optimize development efficiency for the game.” They also assured that the game’s development will continue to expand despite this setback.

The original report follows…

In just a few months from it’s release, Marvel Rivals has made a great name for itself, even dethroning titles like Overwatch. The game generated a revenue of a whopping $136 Million just within the first month of its launch.

However, not even this amount of success is pleasing for studio Netease games. According to the game director, Thaddeus Sasser, on LinkedIn, he and his entire team at the Seattle-based studio were laid off from Netease games.

Why it matters: Layoffs have become a huge and concerning issue within the gaming industry. While most layoffs happen because of cost-cutting and failed releases, Netease laying off employees after such a successful release is disappointing to hear.

Marvel Rivals Director Announcing His Layoff On LinkedIn

Thaddeus wrote on LinkedIn to announce the layoff as well as to find new employment for his fellow workers. The reason behind the layoff is unknown but still concerning since Marvel Rivals has been on a roll and hasn’t dipped in popularity or player count.

Despite such huge success, it seems that Netease is cutting down costs. Just recently, Liquid Swords, a Sweden-based studio backed by Netease, also announced layoffs.

Whatever the case may be or a change of plans for Netease, they may have sabotaged Marvel Rivals. While the previous staff may have quite a load of content planned down, such a shift in creative direction may take a toll on the game’s future.

On the other hand, video game developers are more than concerned about their jobs. Not even two months into 2025 and almost 1000 video game devs have been laid off already.

What are your thoughts on the increasing wave of layoffs in the gaming industry? Do you think Marvel Rivals losing its director will harm the game? Let us know in the comments below or head towards the official Tech4Gamers Forums.

Spider-Man 2 PC Release Stumbles, Becoming one of PlayStation’s Worst Launches

Story Highlight
  • Spider-Man 2 was finally released on PC earlier this month.
  • The title has failed to gather many players on the platform, becoming one of the worst PlayStation launches.
  • Not only did it fail to attract players, but the game currently has only 69% positive reviews on Steam.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was released just two weeks ago on PC, and while the game performed really well on the console when it was first launched, the title failed to gather similar results on PC.

The game was released to mixed reviews on Steam for bugs and poor performance. Not only that, but the game has also struggled to attract players and has become one of the weakest launches on PlayStation.

Why it matters: While fans had higher expectations from the developers for the PC port, it failed to meet general expectations.

Spider-Man 2 was released just over two weeks ago, and it’s only averaging around 8K players. Looking at the peak players of the title, the game has only managed to see a little over 28K players.

This has made the title one of the worst PC launches from PlayStation, as other games like Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut, The Last of Us Part 1, and even Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered had a much higher player count.

Not only has the game failed to attract players, but the reviews have been mixed at best. The title is currently at 69% positive, only behind The Last of Us: Part 1 (50%) and Horizon Zero Dawn (64%) during the first two weeks after its launch.

Marvels Spider Man 2 Sony Layoffs
Spider-Man 2 PC port did not achieve the same level of success as the console version.

At the moment, The Last of Us: Part 1 and Horizon Zero Dawn have much better reviews on Steam, though both games received a lot of criticism during their first two weeks. Therefore, it remains to be seen whether the Spider-Man 2 reviews will improve in the coming time.

Nonetheless, have you played the title yet? Do you have plans to try it on PC? Let us know your thoughts, or join Tech4Gamers forums.

Atomfall To Feature ‘Bonkers’ Mechanics That Can Have A ‘Huge’ Influence on The Game’s World

Story Highlight
  • Atomfall’s lead designer, Ben Fisher, says that the survival-action entry will feature experimental mechanics that are bonkers.
  • These mechanics can have a huge influence on the game’s world and the gameplay, affecting enemy populations and more.
  • Atomfall is also expected to be pretty challenging. It will launch on March 27 for PC, last-gen, and current-gen consoles.

2025 is filled with exciting releases spanning across various genres and fandoms alike. Among them, Atomfall is one of the most anticipated games because of its catchy post-apocalyptic yet vibrant visuals and survival-action nature.

Atomfall reimagines Britain’s dreaded Windscale nuclear disaster, where you have to scavenge, craft, barter, fight, and talk your way through to survive. The game’s lead designer, Ben Fisher, says this is not all Atomfall has to offer.

In a new interview, Ben clarifies that Atomfall will feature unique ‘bonkers’ mechanics that can shift the gameplay around you. These events can have a ‘huge’ influence on the game’s world.

Why it matters: Atomfall might just replace our carving for the next mainline Fallout game with its stellar visuals and post-apocalyptic gameplay filled with enemies ranging from cultists, cryptids, and mechs alike.

Atomfall
Atomfall has many Fallout fans excited because of the similarities.

The lead designer told VideoGamer that Atomfall allows players to accidentally trigger events that can significantly change the world, such as adjusting enemy numbers or behavior.

There’s some bonkers in Atomfall. There’s events the player can trigger or completely miss that can have a huge influence on enemy population in the game world.

-Ben Fisher

Since this is Rebellion’s new IP, the developers have gone full-in to tinker with world-changing features that other games in the genre often avoid. This is the same studio that crafted the highly renowned Sniper Elite franchise.

Atomfall is also going to be a pretty challenging experience, according to the designer. ‘The high-intensity experience’ will keep ‘you on edge’ throughout the playthrough.

Atomfall
Atomfall features a picturesque British countryside suffering from the aftermath of a nuclear disaster.

For those not in the know, Atomfall is set to launch on March 27, 2025, for last-gen and current platforms and PC. The action RPG will also be available day one on Game Pass.

Do you think Atomfall will wholly revolutionize the survival-action genre with its daring game mechanics, or are these claims just your typical PR talk? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers forum.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows Expected To Rival Odyssey With Around 4 Million Sales In First Month

Story Highlight
  • Assassin’s Creed Shadows has already received around 300,000 pre-orders, which is close to Assassin’s Creed Odyssey’s day-one player count.
  • If it continues to attract players at this rate, the game could achieve 3.5 to 4 million sales during the first month.
  • This figure would still put it behind Assassin’s Creed Valhalla by a significant margin.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is now closer than ever to its release date, and Ubisoft’s confidence is said to be quite high. This blockbuster will determine Ubisoft’s long-term success in the industry, leaving little room for failure.

While the stakes are undoubtedly high, new reports from reliable sources provide a glimpse at the reason behind the gaming giant’s noticeable confidence in the wake of an impending financial crisis. According to these reports, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is expected to rival Assassin’s Creed Odyssey in terms of sales figures.

Why it matters: Assassin’s Creed Odyssey continues to be among Ubisoft’s most successful releases. Despite its departure from the series’ roots, it opened the IP up to a broad audience.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Was A Strong Entry For The Series

As Insider Gaming reports, Assassin’s Creed Shadows has already secured around 300,000 pre-orders. These are impressive figures since the game is still over a month out, with marketing expected to pick up the pace closer to release.

For context, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey reached around 400,000 to 450,000 players on day one. Assassin’s Creed Shadows is now on track to achieve similar figures at release.

If Ubisoft’s latest blockbuster can sustain this momentum, it should sell close to 3.5 million units within the first month. Positive reviews and word of mouth could also boost sales to numbers as high as 4 million.

Star Wars Outlaws Featured (1)
Star Wars Outlaws Failed To Meet Sales Expectations

This would still be significantly less than Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s 8 million sales during the same time period, but Ubisoft would likely be happy with the results. To put the figures into perspective, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is currently selling twice as fast as Star Wars Outlaws, the game Ubisoft dubbed a financial disappointment last year.

What are your thoughts on these numbers? Do you think Ubisoft would be pleased with these results? Share your opinions in the comments and on the Tech4Gamers Forums.

Subscription Services Like Game Pass Won’t Replace Owning Games, Xbox Boss Says

Story Highlight
  • Microsoft Gaming CEO and Xbox boss Phil Spencer says Game Pass won’t replace owning games for players.
  • Phil clarifies that Xbox is not trying to funnel gamers into the subscription-based business model.
  • The CEO says that gamers can still choose to purchase a game after enjoying it on Game Pass to keep it forever.

While subscription services like Game Pass and PlayStation Plus have made gaming cheaper and more accessible for many players, they have also raised many concerns in the industry. The gaming scene is worried that the model will eventually replace owning games entirely.

However, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer completely disagrees with the concerns. He has recently addressed the matter and clarified that Game Pass won’t replace owning games for players. In fact, it might encourage them in a way.

Why it matters: Xbox boss has ensured worried players that Game Pass will not force them to stop owning games in any capacity. Players who like a title on Game Pass can purchase it and keep it in their libraries forever.

During an interview with Xbox Era, Phil claimed that players who enjoy titles on Game Pass might like them so much that they buy them to keep forever.

He added that Xbox will not trap users who like owning games to the subscription-based model, nor is the company trying to force Nintendo and PlayStation users to its platform.

You can buy every game that’s in Game Pass, we’re not trying to funnel everybody into one business model.

-Phil Spencer

Xbox wants to continue respecting people’s libraries by bringing more features like Play Anywhere and backward compatibility

Xbox is launching more first-party games on PS5 than Sony this year.

On a side note, Phil also said in the same interview that Xbox will continue its focus on single-player games instead of chasing live service, which we can notice from the company’s lineup of upcoming releases.

Do you think these subscription services will decrease the number of players who want to own games, or is that too unrealistic a possibility? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers forum.

Ubisoft Confident In Assassin’s Creed Shadows Launch Date; No More Delays Planned

Story Highlight
  • A new report details Ubisoft’s confidence in meeting the Assassin’s Creed Shadows release target.
  • Developers say the game is nearly done, giving the team confidence in meeting the March 20 launch date.
  • Reviews are also expected to go live on March 18.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows was initially announced for release in 2024, but Ubisoft decided to move the game forward to 2025 to ensure a more polished experience. The game then suffered another delay when Ubisoft confirmed a March 20 launch.

Just over a month before this release, many fans have shown concerns about another potential delay. Fortunately, a new report indicates no such plans are currently in place, and Assassin’s Creed Shadows is likely to launch on March 20, as announced recently.

Why it matters: Ubisoft is betting everything on Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ success, so the publisher is expected to ensure the game arrives in the best possible state. This means that a third delay was never out of the question.

As reported by the reliable Insider Gaming, Ubisoft is quite confident in meeting its latest release target.

The game is said to be ‘pretty much done,’ and nearly every developer involved is hopeful that there will be no additional delays. According to the report, reviews will also be available one month from now.

The report states that reviews will go live on March 18, giving users two days to decide whether Assassin’s Creed Shadows is worth pre-ordering. Meanwhile, Ubisoft’s comments indicate the game’s current pre-order numbers are solid.

Assassin's Creed Shadows
Assassin’s Creed Shadows Will Be A Make Or Break Game For Ubisoft

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is also expected to go gold sometime this week. Games typically reach this milestone a month before their release, so the same should be true of Ubisoft’s latest blockbuster. All in all, it seems the stage is now set for Assassin’s Creed’s return to the industry.

What are your thoughts on these details? Let’s discuss this in the comments and on the Tech4Gamers Forums.

New Avowed Vs. Oblivion Detailed Comparison Reveals Huge Gameplay Downgrades In Obsidian’s RPG

Story Highlight
  • A new Avowed vs. Oblivion detailed comparison has revealed that Obsidian’s anticipated RPG lacks in many mechanics.
  • Compared to Oblivion, the game world feels static; NPCs barely react to anything, ignoring attacks entirely.
  • Oblivion’s gameplay reacts more with the player’s actions, and the world feels more immersive in comparison.

With Obsidian’s new RPG just around the corner, the expectations built by fans are quite staggering. The many gameplay reveals and review roundups have hinted at an enjoyable RPG venture. Some gamers even went as far as to call it the next Elder Scrolls experience.

However, there has also been a motley of mixed reviews in the midst. Now, a new Avowed vs. The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion detailed comparison has further highlighted the disparity in gameplay mechanics that exists between both RPGs.

In almost all comparisons, Avowed seems to massively lag behind Oblivion in how reactive and immersive the world feels

Why it matters: The new detailed comparison between Oblivion and Avowed might have confirmed that Obsidian’s answer to The Elder Scrolls series fails to meet similar standards, with many gamers holding a similar opinion.

The YouTuber TerakJK pitted both RPGs together in a turn-by-turn comparison, showcasing that the world and many objects in Avowed are completely static, like the food on the table. Oblivion—a 2006 release—features better props with satisfying physics behind them.

The NPCs are also a noticeable letdown in Avowed, as they feel more like map assets than immersive characters. Guards ignore the player harassing or attacking NPCs, only ever taking action against hostiles in scripted moments.

It is a similar story when it comes to stealing stuff from NPCs. Oblivion’s NPC crowds are also mostly static, but the characters themselves have dynamic, unscripted conversations.

Avowed
Avowed director also previously admitted that the game will be janky, asking players to accept it.

And while this might come to preference, the non-magic combat in Avowed also seems slower and boring than in Oblivion. The video also points out that you can enter more buildings in Bethesda’s magnum opus.

Many who watched the comparison have voiced disappointment with how Avowed has turned out when pitted against Oblivion.

Regardless, an Oblivion remake is rumored to launch this summer. And Avowed is set to release on February 18, 2025, for PC and Xbox Series X|S.

Does Avowed fall short in gameplay compared to classics like Oblivion, or is the comparison too close to call? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers forum.

Nvidia Drops 32-Bit PhysX Support For The RTX 50 Series

Story Highlight
  • The RTX 50 series GPUs drop support for 32-bit PhysX games, affecting older titles like Borderlands 2, Mirror’s Edge, and Batman: Arkham Asylum.
  • Nvidia confirmed that the RTX 50 series and future releases will not support 32-bit CUDA applications.
  • 64-bit PhysX applications still work on the RTX 50 series, while the RTX 40 series and older continue to support 32-bit PhysX.

The RTX 50 series is shaping to be the worst lineup in Nvidia’s GPU history. If the lack of performance and melting cases weren’t enough, the GPU has now been found to drop support for 32-bit PhysX games.

The case was first reported by a Redditor who ran a few games based on 32-bit PhysX but could not run them. The same user tried running Borderlands 2, but it ran terribly, with the framerate dropping below 60 by just standing.

Why it matters: Nvidia’s removal of support for 32-bit PhysX titles for its Blackwell series is disappointing, and users won’t be able to play legacy titles anymore.

RTX 50 Series silently removed 32-bit PhysX support
byu/MrEWhite innvidia

However, Borderlands 2 could only run by forcing PhysX via the config file. This is similar to how it ran on AMD cards by forcing PhysX on the CPU back in the day.

An Nvidia Employee confirmed the lack of support, saying that the 32-bit CUDA applications are unsupported for the RTX 50 series GPU and will remain unsupported for future releases as well.

nvidia removed physx 32 bit support rtx 50 series
An Nvidia Employee Confirmed The Lack Of 32-bit PhysX Support On The RTX 50 Series Cards.

So far, games like Borderlands 2, Mirror’s Edge, Batman: Arkham Asylum and Origins, and Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag won’t be able to run on the newer Blackwell GPUs.

On the other hand, the RTX 40 series and older will continue to support 32-bit PhysX applications. Moreover, 64-bit PhysX applications run just as fine on the RTX 50 series, according to the user who ran Batman: Arkham Knight and tested it.

So far, Nvidia has taken the first step in dropping support for legacy titles. The only workaround for now is to force PhysX on the CPU, but that comes with a considerable performance sacrifice.

What are your thoughts on the RTX 50 series dropping support for 32-bit PhysX applications? Would being unable to play older games be a dealbreaker for you? Let us know in the comments below or visit the Tech4Gamers Forums.

Rocksteady Is Developing A New Open-World Action Game, WB Games Job Listing Confirms

Story Highlight
  • Rocksteady is apparently developing a new open-world and a third-person action game, as suggested by a new job ad.
  • The ad posted by Warner Games further adds to the rumors about a new Batman game in development by Rocksteady.
  • This new single-player Batman game is expected to be the canceled Batman Beyond project.

WB Games clearly missed the mark with its multi-million-dollar live-service project, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. It led to colossal failure and layoffs for the studios involved. Now, WB is possibly trying to backpaddle by working on a project players actually want.

Rocksteady Studios has published a new job listing seeking a Game Director for a new AAA open-world and third-person action game. This listing has further solidified rumors that Rocksteady might really be working on a single-player Batman title.

Why it matters: The failure of the Suicide Squad game might have finally pushed Warner Games to pursue another single-player Batman project. The requirements stated in the new ad listing further confirm these notions.

Rocksteady Studios is seeking a new game director for its new open-world action entry.

We found the first mentions of the AAA title by Rocksteady, confirming rumors that the studio was working on an unannounced game after Suicide Squad. It is seemingly quite early in development, per the Production Director listing.

Strong design leadership and experience across multiple genres, particularly Third-Person Action, Melee Brawlers, and Open WorlD Traversal games.

The job posting also lists requirements like ‘melee brawlers’ and ‘open-world traversal,’ both important elements in Batman: Arkham games. At the moment, Rocksteady is rumored to be working on its canceled Batman Beyond game.

Batman From Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League
The Suicide Squad game also retconned Batman’s death, adding more strength to rumors about a Batman game.

Despite all the sprawling speculations and insider reports, Rocksteady has not officially confirmed its next project in any capacity. We may learn more about this game as the year progresses, so take the rumor mill with a pinch of salt.

Do you think Rocksteady is working on a new Batman open-world AAA entry next, or is it too early to confirm these rumors? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers forum.
